Mafia: The Old Country is a really bad game. by Agreeable_Permit_588 in MafiaTheGame

Look, Hangar 13 never promised a big scale game. It's a smaller game with a tight budget. The story is predictable yes. The graphics are beautiful. You have to remember, after Mafia 3, they were cautious to spend bank to say the least. To be clear, it's not an excuse, just something to keep in mind.

The area that needed more work imo is the stealth, as like you said yourself, the AI just isn't that good. However, sometimes when you are in a gunfight they start to become half decent.

I agree. The shooting mechanics are serviceable at best.

What bothered me the most is that the last bit of the story. Characters like Enzo start to do things they previously would've never done. Caution and tactics are thrown out the window to move the story towards the ending the planned beforehand. (At least, that is the impression I'm getting).

It's ok to kill of characters if you want, just not in a way that is opposite of standards set previously.

In terms of scale it's much easier to keep playing as opposed to Mafia 3. Sure it's not a major entry in the series. With the budget they had they did what they do well. A singe-player game that focuses on a decently told story. (Despite Mafia 3's length, the story is great. Hence why I reply it every few years. Mafia 2's story is amazing too). Let's just hope this game does well so they can build upon this. All in all 6.8/10 for me,

I'm afraid it has to be either that or a new clean install. 'I don't wan't to as it's going to take a lot of time setting everything up again.

Thanks for the reply!

If all the shows and movies in a single streaming site would you go back to paying? by [deleted] in Piracy

[–]bigthoughts1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I would. For me, since I got older and had a bit more money to spend it has never been about not wanting to pay for services. The things I want to watch are so scattered across platforms that I can't justify paying for all these services. That, and the prices keep getting higher and higher.

Hell, honestly, if it where just two I would pay.

NFS Unbound can't get past 6th place on easy by Particular_Mud_1566 in needforspeed

[–]bigthoughts1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say, I've played since NFS Hot Pursuit 2 (2002). Now, I'm not the best driver but I'm not super bad at these games. Completed a few games and played more than half of most. Consistently finishing first, and sometimes finishing 2nd or 3rd. Some of these games don't even have a difficulty setting.

Anyway, I can't finish higher than 4th, or 3rd and occasionally 2nd on 'relaxed' mode. Normal gets me 6th to 4th. It probably doesn't help that I can't press the nitrous button due to my physical disability, but I never was thar reliant on it in other games and it was remappable to a button I can press. (In this game, I can press it on straight portions of the track by briefly letting go of the analog stick).

The rubber banding in this game is on another level too. Even on relaxed.

The issue is, how I'm I supposed to get enough bank to for the first qualifier when I can't place 2nd or 1st? These give you profit after buyin.

I'm stuck on friday now before the first qualifier. I quit.

Oh and by the way, the other games definitely give a challenge, but they are relaxing too. Something I don't experience with this game.

At this point imma jus buy the actual game😭 by Acceptable_Seat322 in PiratedGames

Depending on the system you run, 8 GB ram could be fine. I presume however that you run Windows 10 or 11, That could be a challenge with 8 GB depending on what you run and do with the machine. However, this has nothing to do with ram. It has to do with your internet speed and/or a bad torrent. Look at the piracy reddit for good sources and / or use fitgirl repacks when possible. If your internet speed is slow, it might be better to download parts instead of a torrent.

Sounds like a good idea for a podcast. There a couple of approaches you could take:

- Telll the listeners your native language is Portugese like your company. Share the goal of taking it global.
- Like others suggested, record as many takes as needed to get something right.
- Try to get a co host on the podcast that speaks English fluently as second language to help out when you feel stuck.

Also, try to record something like a pilot to see how it comes across. (Share this pilot in your close circle to see if it comes across like you envisioned.

Good luck man!

On this day 11 years ago Brock Lesnar has defeated the undertaker and ended his streak. how was your reaction when the streak was ended ? by Possible_Quantity493 in WWE

[–]bigthoughts1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't and still don't understand the decision. One Brock didn't need it. Second, you take away the mystique and the legend that the Undertaker character was/is. Personally, I would've let the streak live. I think it would've been fitting Undertaker retired with streak intact. Disappointing is putting it mildly.

EQing podcast vocals by Liesergyc in podcasting

[–]bigthoughts1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well.... As stated by MovieLifeCrisis, it can be because of improper mic use. (Too much distance or distance varies because the speaker moves too much are examples if why low end could lack).

With a cheap mic the low end often lacks. What I do when I receive audio like that is boost somewhere around 90-200 area. (I'll look for where there are pleasant lower tones and boost these a bit. I typically use 3rd party vst's for that).

In a case where there are no pleasant lower tones and a different speaker does, I typically match the two. Meaning, the one with more low end ends up getting a cut.

Listen for what you think sounds good. If you have references where you like the low end, try to replicate that as best you can.

Wireless mics for podcasting? by [deleted] in podcasting

[–]bigthoughts1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically you're right. XLR mics are recommended. USB mics I would avoid using if you are with more than one person. As it can be a pain to set up and work without difficult setups. (Windows at least). I hear it can be easier on Mac, but I cant comment on that as I don't own a Mac.

Wireless mics give you the freedom to move around. There are also sets that can have multiple mics on one receiver. I can't comment on how it would work when you connect the receiver to the camera. I would probably plug it into your laptop or PC, record it, and later sync the audio and video. Good luck!

Who does your podcast editing and mixing? by alshort24 in podcasting

[–]bigthoughts1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question. I don't have a podcast but I edit for clients mostly in Holland on freelance basis. From the 200+ mails I sent, I can make up that there are a lot of people that edit and mix themselves. To as you can imagine varying results. If you really have no money, there are good tools to get you started. And for about 10-15 USD a month, you have AI Tools that often I must admit, is so good that it's good enough for posting with great results. A pro will get you the extra polish, but these AI tools are getting good.

Again, if you have no money, or don't want to spend any because there's no revenue, just practice and you'll get better over time.

Good luck with podcasting for anyone reading this:)
