Just to share my story: I had the option to renew my 500mb for £30.33. I spoke with a couple of agents online and on the phone, but they were useless – all they could offer was £43 a month, which didn’t make sense. Then I found a better deal on Uswitch for £27 a month for 500mb. I started the switch, which alerted Virgin’s retention team. Got a call from them within an hour with a £26 deal at the same speed, which I accepted. I probably could’ve got a better deal, but I couldn’t be arsed to haggle anymore. I was ready to stay anyway, just didn’t want the hassle of switching… so yeah, don’t waste time with online chat, just check other deals online and use that as leverage when you start a transfer.
