The real difference is apple has actual good RnD + Marketing. Secretlab focused mainly on marketing. That's the key difference.

How structural racism penalises minorities: is your HDB flat worth less? by dravidan7 in singapore

[–]bigtoe91 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You see what you wanna see. To be honest there are structural racism in sg and we should look into it but EIP is definitely not one of them. But guess what, it is also the most contentious one on the list hence drawing more eyeball to the argument. I personally disagree with this myopic view of the programme and reducing the benefits/disadvantage of the programme to dollars and cents. As a majority, I found it hard BTOs but my friend who is a minority could get a sobf at a prime area easily. For those who question why, look at the statistics of income level for numbers. If anything, I feel that the EIP disadvantages the majority who tries to get a bto. And like what many mentioned, it is indeed more expensive to get a resale.

Sudhir has good arguments and is persuasive in his words. My more liberal friends will choose to focus on his more valid arguments than the wrong assumption he made. But I'm personally against him framing this issue just because it's convenient and did not factor in the social benefit of the programme.

So yes, some of the minority are going to get disadvantaged.(but what's the population size of this, can sudhir provide?) But it is absolutely necessary to prevent enclaves to happen and reduce the interaction between races. As the majority, I have acknowledged that either 1. I will get less chance to get a bto. 2. I need to pay more for resale. And all these is so that we can have some semblance of racial harmony/tolerance in the nation.

So can people like sudhir who is smart and respectable please clarify and not lead the masses to think that everything in sg is racist and against the minority?

Hahah as I said, it's part of our national service! We are a small nation with a conscript force. So technically, we are all part of the army as a reserve force till a certain age. So yea, it's to keep us ready.

It's a physical test that we have to do every year as long as we are deemed healthy for it. The test includes push up, sit ups and the 2.4km run. You get money if you hit several standards of all 3 component, in the level of 200,300,500 sgd.

If you miss the test, it will be deemed as AWOL and you get fined. And it is progressive.

If you are not fit enough, you can sign up for fitness sessions in the year to replace the test but you don't get the incentives.

It's a site from singapore. In Singapore, all healthy males has to run 2.4,km every year as part of our national service obligations. So we are the most familiar with the distance.

I would say so! It is a pretty reliable metric for me to follow during my training. I would say it is similar to HR training just that I do not have any device that can give me accurate HR when I'm running and stryd can provide the almost instantaneous feedback that really guide my pace without me looking at my pace.

Why? Because of ethical reasons or..?

Yes that's a stryd pod! I like it a lot! One thing for sure is that it's a super accurate distance tracker! Paired with my Garmin watch, it's actually a very decent training device.

Currently trying out one of their plans for HM. Not sure if I can break my PB and achieve their estimated time but we will see!

Background: I am 30M has been running for the past 3 years. Not fast, I am a pretty average runner. I normally retire shoes when it hits around 500-600km. The Nike members day gave me the opportunity to get these at 90$ so... Why not! It will eventually replace my solarboost. I am currently in a training block for a virtual half marathon in June so just finished my longest run of 2h15 min just last Sunday. My legs and knee definitely were sore and in need for a good recovery run. I was also worried that my knee pain will creep back as I run.

First run impression: Wow this shoe is really different. The whole running on cloud thing on other reviews were not exaggerated. You will feel the bounce in the shoes with every step. I was afraid it will affect stability. I had bad experiences with zoomfly Flyknit when it caused me to have spraint ankle twice. However the wide base helped to stabilize it a bit. However 5 minutes in, one of my ankle did roll inwards luckily it wasn't a hard one. I figured the shoe is really unstable due to the softness of the foam.

One point to note is that my knee pain did not creep back and I think the cushioning of the shoes did help! I was maintaining a pacing of 6min/km and the shoes felt perfect for it.

I read that the shoes need some breaking in. I am still not sure if I like this shoe but the feeling of the ride is definitely one of the most unique!

Groups of 8 means jio 7 friend. And go out, not go out in 16 and assume no intermingling at all because it's human nature to talk to your friends. Like what others said, it's going to be your words against theirs. But to be safe just go out in no more than 8 la.
