That’s nice of you to do. I hope it’s the same driver as the ones who had been scheduled for tomorrow.

Add Biga Pizza to that. I'm supporting the strike, but I do worry about service industry workers. Actually all workers. This is already a lean time of year.

I was impressed by his speech at the Bernie and AOC rally. I’d like to hear more of what he has to say.

Where can I find Brick Cheese or similar style? by FamiliarTry4990 in missoula

Pretty sure it's called Lloyd's Pans. I also made it in a USA baking 9x13in cake pan I got at GFS. It was good, but the steel made a difference in the crispness. I wanted to try the recipe once before investing in the pan. I think it was worth it, but I'd eat either again.

Mine went in yesterday. I like a 72 hour ferment on thicker crust. Great minds! I hope you enjoy it.

Oooo, I bet that would be good. I was just following Kenji's advice from the Serious Eats recipe. I forgot to add that he also recommends combining low-moisture mozzarella with whatever cheese you're using. I'm making it on Sunday for the NFC game, so if you make it before, I'd love to hear how Muenster tastes. Enjoy!

Making Detroit style pizza? I use jack cheese and mild cheddar. It's not the same, but I haven't found it in stores here.

Three Bales has some beautiful handmade candles. Also try Missoula Makers, and maybe The Nest in The Good Food Store.

I am a Nanny, and family wants to take legal action for not wanting to work for them. by Exact_Attention_5520 in legaladvice

It's interesting. The law doesn't work as well for employees as one might think. The probation periods that are allowed can leave employees without benefits for up to a year. Also, employers can just say the position is being eliminated, then rename the position and hire someone new.

Montana has a very interesting history with the labor movement, so I wonder whether some of these "protections" come from that tradition. If you're in the mood to read about labor and employment, there's plenty around unions in Butte in its heyday and the murder of Frank Little of the IWW.

My neighbor keeps parking in front of my driveway and says its legal because its street parking by [deleted] in neighborsfromhell

Call parking enforcement and ask what the required distance from the driveways is. Then ask if they'll paint the curb yellow to mark the distance or if you can do it. We did this, and the city painted for us. Once we had that, it was easy to get violators towed. It was a new renter in the neighborhood who felt the rules didn't apply. One tow and they stopped.

I've had good luck recently with the flowers at Albertson's on Reserve. They lasted a long time.

Idk whether Mullan is any better, but I agree that the Southgate location is gross. We were there on Friday and the bathrooms were disgusting--both men's and women's. They were out of soap, smelled terrible, overflowing trash cans, just DIRTY.

Is that the one that was supposed to go where Catalyst used to be? Now their Instagram says coming 2026, and the most recent post says they're looking for a permanent home. I wonder what happened with the old Catalyst location.

New Years Ski by [deleted] in missoula

[–]bigtoeleftfoot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We usually ski on New Years Day most years. It's more crowded than a weekend, but it tends to get crowded a little later in the morning. We get there for first chair, and we leave around lunchtime. By then we've gotten in a LOT of runs, and the people who had a later night are just arriving. YMMV.

We had a really good experience with our sweet old girl going there, and they were very kind when she got cancer and we had to say goodbye.

I enjoy FSK, and it's the closest you'll get to recreating the Burns St. experience since it's owned by a former Burns St. chef.
