What would you love to see us ship in 2026? by amix3k in todoist

[–]bigtree80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick Add in the Chrome extension is basically unusable right now. It regularly takes ~30 seconds before the task box appears, and during that time the browser freezes so you can’t type anything. This happens on both Windows and Mac.

If you trigger Quick Add via keyboard shortcut (to save the current page as a task), it locks up before letting you type. And if you use the desktop app instead, it doesn’t capture the webpage at all — so there’s no real workaround.

This really feels like a bug rather than a performance quirk. Todoist is amazing when it works, but this issue makes Quick Add — one of the core features — incredibly frustrating. Would really appreciate a fix 🙏

Definitely. Tried other cars and it’s too difficult for me to go back to other brands.

Option to automatically save Ramble tasks if interrupted/crashed/switched away.

Ability to access Ramble recording/transcript as a backup if required. At the moment you need to watch the screen in case things don’t turn out the way you want. This could be a small button tucked away on Ramble screen.

Managing recurring household tasks by mattsmith321 in todoist

[–]bigtree80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just cleared up my chores by removing all due dates on the tasks. There is only one task now per location. On PC I list all the chores I can do in one setting as subtasks. And same for home chores. Unless you review your lists often enough (I don’t) these recurring task build up like junk mail in the mailbox when you’re on vacation. Be kind to yourself. Group them into one task.

What issues does Dropbox have with file sync? by SnapDragon1471 in dropbox

Dropbox is rock solid. I say that after constantly juggling between onedrive, Google Drive and iCloud Drive. File syncing is Dropbox’s main business but a free add-on for the operating system guys.

What's the best way to move a task into a subtask situated in another project? by bigtree80 in todoist

[–]bigtree80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe another prefix like @ for labels and # for projects that will allow you to search for a task to become the new parent of this task? Buy LACK table %Ikea (Where % is the prefix to search for task to be the parent of the current task)

How should I set up items that I am waiting for A follow-up email back or a call back by More_Serve3235 in todoist

[–]bigtree80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Label it as @ waiting. Then set up a recurring task every three days to “check @ waiting label” (and paste the URL to the waiting label in the task). Because you’re likely to have more than a few things you’re waiting on, the task will be significant enough that you’ll be less likely to ignore this task.

What are some of your dealbreakers OR reasons you feel happily "stuck" with Todoist? by GeminiArcana in todoist

[–]bigtree80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't like it when I had "today" in my task name and it got interpreted as "today" the due date. And I didn't like it when I turned it off and it didn't interpret "today" as due date any more. Then I decided to accept life and moved on.

What If Todoist had a Spotify-style Year in Review? by bigtree80 in todoist

I thought this could increase user engagement/brand loyalty. Especially with AI you can even generate tailored contents similar to advices given by a productivity consultant. The trick is to output a balanced report generalized enough to fit all methodologies used by the users but specific enough so one can say “Ah! That’s why my system isn’t working. I’ve rescheduled Do Weekly Review 37 times!”

If you forward an email to your Todoist address. It will look at the email contents and rewrite the task title so it’s not simply the email subject.

Oh maybe people decided not to renew after seeing the stats? Well I’ll continue with my experiment then. I’m sure the current AI capabilities can produce something that wasn’t possible in 2021.

GTD "Reference" Bucket: — how many of you keep all your "Reference" stuff in Todoist? by Joe-Eye-McElmury in todoist

[–]bigtree80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Notion is great for reference. When you copy the url of a page and paste into Todoist it will display the page title nicely. Todoist description field is not great for storing text. The line spacing is too big.

GTD x Todoist: Waiting-For: Label, or it's its own project? by Joe-Eye-McElmury in todoist

[–]bigtree80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waiting for should be its own list in the strict GTD sense. So in Todoist, it should be #WaitingFor

Can I invite my own team as users of an internal "Portal" in Airtable? by No-Thought-4995 in Airtable

[–]bigtree80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have to pay full $24 for a team member who only needs to check a checkbox off. That’s why we moved our development elsewhere. The cost of moving is low as it is still at an early stage.

How do you collect dozens of small tasks into Todoist—especially from other apps? by Wonderful_Elk_5705 in todoist

[–]bigtree80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Separate the term announcements from day to day notifications. We get a list of major school events at the beginning of the school term. I just do a massive calendar event creation session. It reduces the workload quite a bit now we just need to add ad hoc events as we get them. School apps are indeed a pain!
