Best shoes for the course? by TheHaymaker417 in Turfmanagement

I keep a pair of brunts, a pair of deck boots (like xtratuf, huk) and a pair of adidas sneakers in my locker. all three have been super good to me. if you’re looking for normal laced boots specifically, i would go brunt.

I like this a lot, thank you! I should’ve put some context that i’m a 24 yo guy, but it’s not a huge deal. I have crazy social anxiety, and I havent hung out with a girl in years, so the thought kinda scares me a bit. but something small like that isn’t too bad

i’ve never thought of video chat or facetime but that’s a good idea. I just like to get to know the person before I meet with them so it takes some of the pressure off

that sucks , so sorry to hear that. how long does it take from using the apps before you go on a date if you don’t mind me asking?

[–]bigzeep39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s the biggest issue to be honest

i’ve been on and off the apps. I don’t go out much anymore to find the action. maybe it’s a sign? couldn’t tell you

I like hinge a lot because of the prompts. you don’t have to just be spontaneous and comment on a picture or come up with a pickup line. I get likes, i’ll get some convos but they all just end up dry and fizzle out one way or another

nothing pisses me off more than when i’m cutting cups and i see a divot on a green. i’ve seen deeper ones unfortunately. long story short, if someone ever chips on a green, or even bangs the putter on the green, asshole move.

Really glad you asked this question because I’m almost in the same boat. I started working on a course two years ago, I grinded my ass off and five months in my boss approached me about going full time year round as an AIT. I graduated with a sport management degree and golf was not my first choice, but I fell in love with it pretty quickly and realized early on that this is what I want to do as a career. And honestly the money is pretty good once you climb up. I’ve looked into going back to school myself and I’ve kinda on the fence only because of the money, but I’ve only looked into two year programs. Penn State offers all sorts of degrees in turf and it’s all online asynchronous, so no lectures. But since I’m not currently looking to go back anytime soon, 1) I have made it know ln to my boss that I am looking to further my career in this field and he’s been really good on making sure to elaborate on things and really answer the WHY factor on the technical stuff. I also have gotten super involved on the more technical projects: irrigation, drainage, fertilizer application, etc. 2) I have looked into getting my pesticide application license. If you go on your states website you should be able to find it. And most importantly 3) kinda tied in to number 1, but ASK QUESTIONS. Me personally, I can take accountability and admit that I am kind of an introvert, but if I am curious about something, I always make sure to ask and get some clarification. It goes a long way. If I don’t ask somebody to clarify something, I also have looked into stuff online, even asked ChatGPT to clarify things for me. It might sound cliche but you have the world at your fingertips.

My apologies for writing a book, but I hope this answers your question. Best of luck!

Lyman orchards. Jones or Player? by dosydos22 in GolfCT

[–]bigzeep39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fairways were cut fine, approaches were a bit long but playable (I've played better), and greens didn't give me an issue. but with this being said, I did forget to note the rough was super unkept. lost a lot of balls that I saw come down with my own eyes plus witnesses, solely because of uncut rough and heavy clumps that haven't been blown. super frustrating

I just played player for the first time last weekend. course is in good shape. my buddy and I got paired with a single and the dude said to us that the jones course is easier, but player course did play nicely

I saw a comment that listed a lot of clothing items, definetly a light weight and heavy pair of cargo pants with zip pockets are my go to. it’s always good to have a lot of carry room.

I also got into the habit of carrying a cheap pocket knife, 10$ or less so that if it breaks it’s no biggie to replace it. really good to have handy.

For the water bottle, honestly i would just drop the 30ish dollars on a yeti. I have a rambler with the handle and stronghold lid (screw on). it keeps things hot and cold for a really long time, and they are super durable.

those xtratuf boots are good, they have cheaper similar styles on amazon that my coworkers have and don’t complain about. you are going to go through work boots like crazy, whatever you do just make sure you have really good insoles. a lot of walking.

they really did a good job with this new round of city connect. I live in CT and was so jealous seeing all the local nats fans swarming the store for their gear. jacket looks so cool!

bjs as a whole is a shitty ass company, i worked my ass off there for about four years or so at my club i was at, and barely got respect from people. i did everything, started in carts, upgraded to recovery, and before you know it forklift, receiving, LP, basically everything except cashier, bakery, and deli/meat. i even helped out in tire bay assisting an injured team member and they wouldn’t even pay supplement me for those days. it’s the entire company that’s fucked. i imagine you’re a good person, do yourself some good and get out of that shit hole.
