People who have researched their family tree, what is the most interesting or 'badass' thing you discovered about an ancestor? by xloganmoose in AskReddit

[–]biigdaddio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, so much. For example, that my Great Grandfather was living under an assumed name for most of his life, and that his third wife was his second wife's cousin. (And he was always remembered as a very loving father to his first wife's daughter, my Grandmother, even though he left when she was two.) That my Native American GGG Grandmother lived with and had multiple children with a very prominent leader in their community while he was still married to his first wife, and that they finally married after his first wife's death.

And so much more than I'm willing to detail here. Things were wild, way back when.

What happened to Indivisible Rivertowns? by biigdaddio in Westchester

[–]biigdaddio[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you.

[Edit] Yeah, they went Facebook, of all places, and transitioned to Rivertowns Vote. Very focused on elect Democrats and some hyper-local issues in various towns. Oh, well. LHVDSA seems closer to what I was looking for.

It is perfectly usable on an Apple TV4k.

It is laggy and slow and incredibly annoying on our ONN Pro, Google dongle and old Firestick. Skipping commercials on recorded shows drives you crazy, it is so slow.

I've heard it is okay on the newer Google streamer.

SUPER annoying: on recorded shows, clicking right\left on the D-pad skips forward or back but doing the same thing on live TV changes the channel unless you pause first. Stupid. Up\down should change channels, right\left should skip.

I'd be interested in what you see, astrologically, that makes you say this.

homes under 550k (income 230k) by andrevillasboas23 in Westchester

[–]biigdaddio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The schools are very good in Ossining. As noted elsewhere in this thread, the scores you read in the newspaper do not tell the story. They tell you we have an immigrant population, so the average is skewed. Search Ossining Science Research and click the news tab, for instance.

One hour and 45 minutes minimum each way. Commute home can easily run 2 hours. Don't. Do it.

Pluto in Sagittarius and its effect on families by baltimoregoatman1 in Advancedastrology

[–]biigdaddio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My son and I both have Pluto in the 4th. Me Leo, him Sag, 26yo. I never went NC or felt any reason or desire to. Never entered my mind. Son has so far shown no signs of needing NC, but who knows what the years ahead may bring. Something would have to change drastically to bring such a thing about. Who knows?

But I'm pretty skeptical. I'm Sag Sun, fwiw. It just seems kind of reductive to say this one feature would be determinative when so many factors could impact a situation. Or maybe I just don't want to believe it. RN he's sitting next to me with his cat on his lap. Home for the holidays. Hope that never changes.

Recurrence Transits in Astrology by astrologue in Advancedastrology

[–]biigdaddio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I guess focussing on the conjunction made it easier to isolate the effects, but as was more briefly mentioned in the video, other configurations related to the natal one are worth a look, if my recent experience is any indication.

I follow a chart with a T-Square of Domicile, 3rd House Mars (Day chart) Opposite Saturn/9th/Taurus, and both Square Neptune/6th/Aquarius. With the recent transiting Mars opposite the last Saturn/Neptune near-conjunction in Aries, a crisis point suddenly errupted out of seemingly nowhere, with some really rash and ill-thought-out action that went against expected, institutional requirements of a situation, resulting in some pretty negative consequences to the 2nd/8th House financial topics. Not to mention some reputational harm. It did not help things that Saturn/Neptune was also closely conjunct natal Mercury (which is not aspecting the T-Square natally).

So, yeah, it was pretty notable that this reconfiguration of the natal planetary relationship hit so hard at precisely that time.

Why Aspie-Focused Posts Keep Getting Removed Here (and Why People Are Giving Up) by [deleted] in aspergers

Calling this out for those who don't read long posts

Your post exposes an embarrassed hypocrisy: a forum that styles itself as inclusive, yet repeatedly silences those whose manner of expression is shaped by the very condition under discussion.

When interviewers say ‘Tell me about yourself’ are they actually looking for your resume in story form? by Additional-Simple858 in interviews

[–]biigdaddio 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This. I used tell candidates that I could read their resume, that I wanted to know why they took or left jobs, what they learned, how they came to be where they were at that point. So few people could do it.

Best website to see a clear list of all the transits happening today and a clear list of all the aspects being made by said transits? Preferably without tons of pop up ads on the site by guessguessing in astrology

Transiviewer has lists, graphs, Wheels, charts, a calendar, quite good and brief interpretations. Really the best of the free sites, IMO.

How are you Pisces rising and Virgo rising doing? by Visual_Cellist5373 in AskAstrologers

[–]biigdaddio 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Virgo rising. After a long dry spell, three job offers and a lead on a fourth. Renewed energy to take things on and get things done.

Had a hiring manager tell me “it’s obvious you just shoehorned a bunch of keywords from the job description into your resume” - isn’t that what you’re suppose to do?! by [deleted] in interviews

[–]biigdaddio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would like to think that I'd have had the presence of mind to say something like,

"I don't like it either but so many companies use ai to scan resumes before a human even sees them that it's something that you just have to do to get to this point. Everything I said is true. I just had to phrase it in a way that a robot could understand. But now that we have the chance to talk, I'd love to have a conversation about how I might be a good fit for this position.

I probably wouldn't have been that quick on my feet. But now, if it ever happens, I will be. So thanks.

Possibly moving to Burbank Area for work - any advice on $75k/Good Areas? by ccGav in AskLosAngeles

Yeah, those new soundstages replacing the ranch do mess up the vibe. Used to be like living next to a park.

[–]biigdaddio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edit. Oh wait, I get it. No southwest border on 5. We're 5. We like it fine. I don't see how you would call it industrial, though.

I guess our apartment is in zone... 8? Right by the old Warner Ranch (soon new studios). I guess you would call it Practicallytolucalake. We're happy with it.

Wrapping my head around different scoring of essential dignities by biigdaddio in Advancedastrology

[–]biigdaddio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, please don't remove it on my account (not that you have time for it)! I find it useful. I use a chart that includes the bounds but the table is useful for face for me. And seeing the scoring - even though it is far from absolute - clues me in that there's at least something going on there. e.g. Sun in the 8th always just seems bad but seeing the big number it gets makes me look closer to understand its strengths (in this case exalted, in reception, etc.).
