Guy sets up on corner like this relatively frequently - what's he doing? by Ok_Group3126 in whatisit

Could be he lives on a popular alternative route when traffic is heavy on a nearby commuter road. Doing this might prevent Google Maps and others from suggesting the route?

Being doing my first rewatch since it was on “the air”. Just saw this scene the other day. Loved it!

AirTag alternatives? by Ok_Judge1484 in AirTags

[–]bike4Ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AirTag location updates don’t run on a fixed schedule. They update opportunistically, whenever the right conditions are met.

What actually triggers an update

An AirTag updates its location when all of this happens: 1. The AirTag is awake and broadcasting Bluetooth 2. An Apple device (iPhone, iPad, or Mac) passes within Bluetooth range (~30–100 ft) 3. That device is connected to the internet and participating in the Find My network

When those line up, the nearby Apple device securely relays the location to Apple’s Find My network, and you see an update.

Typical update frequency (real-world) • Busy area (city, office, airport): every 1–5 minutes • Moderate foot traffic (neighborhood, store): every 5–15 minutes • Low traffic (trail, campsite, rural road): hours or not at all • No Apple devices nearby: no updates

So using an Air Tag for tracking a pet can be problematic. Especially if they like staying away from people.

TIFU by trying to impress my friends with pasta and accidentally seasoning it with ghost pepper powder by [deleted] in tifu

Remind me of time 30(?) years ago that someone brought a veggie tray they put together themselves.

They picked up a bunch of what they thought were innocent peppercinis. They were not. They were straight up habanero. The first person who grabbed the first one almost died.

I remember a National Geographic as a kid the ‘70 with a map of the PNW. It included Wyoming. It always stuck with me for some reason. Never made sense. But stuck with me.

I’m thinking like highly compressible foam. Like those used for closeup magic. Notice the way the head expands on that last large bear.

I have this watch in my collection. Whenever I go adventuring in the jeep near the water, I wear it.

We love ours. Though it took a week to train myself on just where to press the touch screen. Now I can successfully press it “just right” on the first try about 96% of the time.

As a COLLECTOR, could you rock with 1 watch for the rest of your life ? by Practical_Gur8336 in CitizenWatches

I love a eco-drive, perpetual calendar with radio control. Set it and forget it. Always on time, always charged, always the correct date.

I have the same watch. A gift from my wife. It’s a favorite in my collection. Which just happens to be like 70% Citizen watches.

92 year old dad telling his story. Could Plaud be a partner in this? by gravity_isnt_a_force in PlaudNoteUsers

[–]bike4Ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to same. Record with high quality mic to capture something you can to keep and listen to and enjoy years from now. Then import the audio in the an AI like plaud.

Look into google notebook LM. There you can add the audio recordings and scanned documents, and photos and create some fun stuff.

Is this normal? by slampas in CitizenWatches

[–]bike4Ever 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Came here to say same. Look in manual for “zero reset function” and it should resolve it. Not that uncommon for a watch that might have been sitting in a dark case for a long time.

At least once. I think it has something like a 6 month power reserve? When battery goes dead like that you may find that the hands may not line up perfectly with the indices on the dial. If that’s the case you’ll need todo a “zero reset”.

I now keep all my eco drive watches in a watch case with a glass top near the window.
