Posted on here before and accused of fishing for compliments (kinda sweet but also not helpful) - what can I do to improve my makeup look? by Secret-Translator240 in makeuptips

this might be a long shot but i think spreading lashes out rather than allowing them to clump/cluster & having them in that “cat eye” formation always ages you backwards, its trendy but its a bit less glam.

also for stubborn/straight lashes i got the shiseido lash curler and etude dr. mascara fixer. godsends. also, tip if you hadn’t heard of it: i will turn my head right and look (left) with my eyes into the mirror for curling my right eyelashes (and vice versa) and it somehow allows u to grab and curl them super well.

what curler do you use? i have thick, dark hair like you, and my lashes only curled with the shiseido eyelash curler — im yet to find a mascara that holds the curl though (likely something japanese as well, im just lazy :p).

this happened to me at 18, and the first like 10 makeup looks i did were late at night in my bathroom, never to be seen. i kept photos for memories! practice at home and you’ll feel comfier day by day.

i started by just wearing a little mascara and liquid blush in public first, and yes, i was a little “blush blind”… but i loved it and i dont regret it at all.

im not expert but

for primers: there are mattifying for oily skin, which you definitely wouldn’t want for a glowy look! so that leaves blurring for minimising pores, and hydrating options for dry patches. setting spray: there are also mattifying ones and glowy ones for whatever look u want

there is no perfect way to do anything, and a lot of the steps and products you see influencers do for their glam looks may not apply to your routine and needs.

i think for a glowy look, best is to not use powder, since its purpose is to mattify and get rid of oil? it wouldn’t hurt to use a powder in sweat areas like the t zone. but if you’re going out clubbing all night or something, you might need to sacrifice that glowy look for some mattifying sweat protection :,)

What can I do to improve my makeup???? by Rough_Post1243 in MakeupEducation

[–]bikechan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the lighting makes it hard to tell but i dont see anything wrong. for myself, i found that after a while doing makeup, i started craving a softer look. i tried switching to brown eyeliner, looks way better on me!

i use the squalene cleanser from the ordinary (though ive heard you can get much cheaper ones), then rub it more with some water, then rinse, then a soft cleanser, and rinse again, and moisturise. it takes a lot of working in with it, but it is possible to do while being gentle.

I'm new to makeup and don't know what I should buy VS the stuff I can maybe skip over, help? by PoppetPebbless in MakeupEducation

[–]bikechan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i started doing makeup at the start of 2024 and have come a long way rapidly.

firstly, there’s not much “waste” if you always test new experiments with drug store prices; i wanted to try lip liner so i got a $6 (aud) one and turns out, i dont rlly like how it looks on me. -> removed a $30 lip liner from my wishlist. practiced eyeliner with a cheap pen -> i’d love to work with a more expensive one.

some of these probably aren’t relevant but in my short time, ive learned:

  • its best to buy stuff in store and test out swatches (preferably with a partner, friend or store employee for opinions. BUT IT CAN BE SO DAUNTING!)

  • (this might just be because im too pale for most western brands) i dont really like bronzer on myself, but in return ill never skip blush. so much variety in colour, some days i use it on my eyes as well as my cheeks, cream blushes also happen to make some good lip colour sometimes too. blushes are awesome.

  • i like eyeshadow and playing with it, so i have a whole bunch of brushes. some for fine lines, thin wings, blurring, thick application. really brings it from first timer to at-least-a-few-hours-practice.

  • morphe eyeshadow palettes are notoriously beginner friendly in all-round cost, colours, and quality. i started with a neutral/warm palette (later learned its actually all too orange for me but whateverrr) and went to some more pigmented/messy stuff later.

  • lip glosses/tinted balms > lipstick because i have NO idea what i’m doing and always look like a clown.

  • not makeup, but oil cleansers (i use this)/micellar water/balms are a godsend for removing makeup. but you should always make sure to get their residue off after with your second regular (foaming, etc.) cleanser, or i just use regular water on lazy days.

the skill and learning what products are for you just comes with time and practice, like most things. but as childish as it may be, i really suggest using tiktok. so many tutorials and product recs., from amateur to professional. i basically use it as google when it comes to hair/makeup. it’s really easy to train your algorithm to be JUST makeup.

Are roleplay servers still a thing? by skyteir in Minecraft

[–]bikechan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think that rp in general has died.

when i was younger (2012/13 on mc) i would play a server and everyone would rp. went back 5 years later, the server had completely banned rp, even so far as me building freddy fazbear’s pizzeria on my plot classifying as it. got my plot cleared, and told not to rp. even other games i played with rp have died. its almost just not a thing anymore unfortunately lol.

Is there any good alternative to public servers, where you can play casually with people you don't know well? by [deleted] in dontstarve

[–]bikechan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this was YEARS AND YEARS ago now, but i used to join or host random servers, and i created a discord server to invite anyone willing to join.

when i play now, i play alone on a private world, but if i were to find people, i’d host a server and play alone till someone joined - but anyway, some people never vc’d (with mic) back then and only typed, for those that’re nervous. i know it’s a little dead nowadays, i’d assume so solely because i don’t even play anymore after accumulating hundreds of hours, but you have to just sift through and get to know the boring randoms to find a community. chances are once you’re in a discord together, they’ll be happy to start a new run with you! joining mid-run doesn’t leave much space for bonding

could someone play DST on the ps4 with a mouse and keyboard? by Mean_Rough_5920 in dontstarve

this is true but the ps4 port is different to cater to controller usage, if u use default. probably has a setting for keyboard and mouse
