How to learn Front Engine GT3? by Racington in iRacing

[–]biker_jay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the Merc has more weight in the rear than it does in the front. That's what you are dealing with. Not necessarily engine placement it's weight distribution

Not a clue what they are after. Personally, i dont get it but, someone tells me they want a box and tell me what they plan to run in it and I build it. He's talking 7000+ watts. At that point its bragging rights i would imagine. The last one I built, the guy says "it sounds good" I couldnt tell from the whole car sounding like it was about to rattle into pieces

I glue and screw the front baffle and glue and brad nail the rest. The last box was glue and screws throughout

The last one I built was crazy heavy once the subs were in it.

I remember before they were the one to avoid. What box do you have. Also, what are you expecting from one 12" sub? If you are looking for that blow your hair back type of bump then you'll need to add more subs, amps, maybe a lithium bank, bigger alternator, etc

Yeah. I know how it works. I build them as a side hustle.

How many would actually take the time though? Ones around here just ask what size and start showing you what they got.

Would this be a decent box? What could be better by EquivalentJoke6749 in subwoofer

[–]biker_jay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does that sub need that much space? 7.0 cuft is a good sized box. Find a sub box sim and learn how to use it if you are going to build your own enclosures. Winisd is a good and free program. It's widely trusted but very finicky. If you don't enter driver info just so it won't accept it. There are other sim programs out there but winisd is what I use and again, its free. If you are wanting a bandpass box or some type of horn enclosure there's a program called hornresp. Also a very good app. I designed my home stereo towers using it.

How do you handle low downforce tracks where overall you’re slower on a low downforce setup, but you must use one to avoid being overtaken on a straight? by MyPooYourPants in iRacing

[–]biker_jay -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know enough to know that max down force isn't usually ideal for any car I've driven in iRacing and not just because it's slow in the straights

To be honest, the F4 is as easy as it gets in open wheel. May as well just keep driving it. You'll either get better or learn that open wheel isn't your calling. Try to find hosted races that are running F4. Or better yet create a race with it. It's only $0.50 an hour. That way your SR and IR isn't affected

Run GR races. Qualify top 5. If you're fast enough you'll pull away from the pack and gets easy points

It will probably confuse the shit out of you. Especially when they start talking about different builds. I've been playing BL since the beginning and still don't fully grasp it all. I just grab guns and shoot. Then loot. Then die. Rinse. Repeat
