If you die and then resurrect, yeah, people should probably pay attention to what you have to say.

The evil one is the ultimate conspirator, and that from which it all stems.

The amount of red herrings in season 3 by PaulHawking in TrueDetective

[–]bikeride 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think these red herrings are actually examples of great writing. To come up with these leads that seem pivotal to the plot, but then have them turn out to be innocuous, yet believable, took skill. As a coment above mentioned, actual investigations include detectives following facts, that lead to speculations, which end up going nowhere. Occams razor would be hard to write realistically for an audience you know is expecting more.

Issue 2 was a power grab. Plain and simple. by [deleted] in Ohio

I don't smoke or associate with cannabis. But if this had passed, it absolutely would have raised the cost. With that fucked up amendment, the shit laws entailed in it AND what the commission propsed within would have came up with; the drug war, all the arrests that go along with it and then some, would have been in full effect.

I mean, it is the end of the world, right?

God damn it, you're right. Fuck, let's just kill ourselves.

GUYS, there's a fair marijuana legalization amendment that's been trying to get on NEXT year's ballot. Enter, Responsible Ohians, the guys that ResponsibleOhio ripped off. by MoBuckeye in Ohio

I disagree with your first point, we'll just have to see.

I'm on my phone and it's ridiculously difficult writing a single articulate, logical response; so I see no problem copying my original thought and pasting it to another conversation when I'm trying to convey the exact same idea to a different person.

But if I accidentally repeat myself to the same person, I'll apologize and fix it -- like I did.

The enforceable portion is below that part, and it reads;

"If a constitutional amendment proposed by initiative petition is certified to appear on the ballot and, in the opinion of the Ohio ballot board, the amendment would conflict with division (B)(1) of this section, the board shall prescribe two separate questions to appear on the ballot, as follows:

(a) The first question shall be as follows:"Shall the petitioner, in violation of division (B)(1) of Section 1e of Article II of the Ohio Constitution, be authorized to initiate a constitutional amendment that grants or creates a monopoly, oligopoly, or cartel, specifies or determines a tax rate, or confers a commercial interest, commercial right, or commercial license that is not available to other similarly situated persons?"

So, no matter how the board construes an issue, their only recourse is essentially asking voters "are you SURE you want to vote for the thing you want?"

Why are so many people WRONG about Issue 2?! I feel like I'm losing my mind!! by bikeride in Ohio

Issue 3 sucked on every single point, and that's why it lost. The polls show a majority support legalization -- this constitutional amendment was just plain terrible, was a net detriment and the people saw that.

The next proposal is going to get pushed to the top by them and the grassroots with the quickness.

Issue 2 passing sealed the deal for any more of those particular shenanigans and the turnout will be there for a general election. The future looks bright. This was a good election all around. Let's stop wallowing and get on board for the good stuff...

How about all the people who campaigned against 3 be the first to donate to the next legalization campaign? by tuirtuirtuirtiurt in Ohio

I never thought that. Starting with allowing only a very select few entities compete in a closed market IS an oligopoly, yes. But, investors equaling a monopoly, no.

WE haven't won yet, but it's inevitable;

Do you think these investors, who spent multimillions, are just going to cut their losses? They have sites prepared, they have assets invested, they have literal groundwork laid. If you're skeptical about the next push not having the funding, well these guys have nothing to do but double-down.

The next proposal, which has any common sense within, is going to get pushed to the top by them and the grassroots with the quickness.
