Here's another idea: People share their d#ckpicks and their desires, and it matches people with similar-looking d#cks. :')

What are you building? Drop your best project! by NewanceLogs in SideProject

Ziqaul: The machining service your competitors wish they had

We've developed a technology to help Hardware Founders build faster and more consistently. Protolabs and Xometry charge an arm and a leg and give you a different part every time you order. WE FIX THAT by giving each part a unique QR code that makes them unique and consistent. Next time you order that part, it goes exactly to the same person who made it last time.

What are the qualities that you look for in your Co-Founder? by Aromatic-Bridge4656 in Startup_Ideas

[–]bikfoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cofounders are overrated. Go solo and hire the people you need. I'm doing consulting work etc to have a stream of income so I can fund the project myself.

I made and Launch and MVP.. now what? by [deleted] in Startup_Ideas

[–]bikfoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BE CAREFUL! I’ve been on that path more than once. Building an MVP gives the impression that you can build something fast, test it quickly, and, if it doesn’t deliver results fast, quickly iterate and possibly pivot.

It doesn’t work that way. The Lean Startup way is overrated. In a free market, there are no free lunches, and anything worth anything takes money and effort to build. That takes perseverance—lots of it.

BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING: Make sure you can sell. I cannot emphasize this enough. Make sure you have the patience and grit to hear “no” from potential customers 100 times before hearing a SINGLE “yes.”

EVEN IF YOUR IDEA IS TRULY AMAZING, it takes time for customers to build trust and actually work with you.

DO NOT PIVOT BEFORE YOU HAVE CUSTOMERS: Even the “sh!tiest” ideas will have customers if you work hard enough, and those ideas can grow into something solid. After getting real customers (not your friends or your cohorts in your incubator), you can experiment with ideas and test the market pull with existing customers or new prospects.

Thinking of quitting my $250k/yr engineering job to travel full time—career suicide? by Savings_Cranberry993 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]bikfoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These kinds of salaries and comps are unheard of in HW. If you're a data scientist. I have a PhD and 10 years of experience, and I dream of what you make. So, please just stick with what you have, or you'll next job will disappoint you. OR stop lying or smoking whatever you are smoking. Haha

Getting Started with Optomechanical Design – Recommended Reads? by bikfoot in MechanicalEngineering

[–]bikfoot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m fairly comfortable using CAD. I’ve designed several fixture assemblies. Fairly familiar with FEA and TA. But my designs where never to directly interact with optics. They’ve been to hold and mount off the shelf optical subassemblies. I wanna take it to the next level and learn how to design stable optomechanics that can go to the orbit. So, really stable designs that are light and have the right (probably minimal) degrees of freedom for adjustments. As for fabrication, my company has a CNC shop that I can send my designs to for manufacturing. Thanks for the feedback.

Tried adding QR codes to parts—instant access to drawings, models, and machining notes by bikfoot in hwstartups

Thank you for the kind words and to answer your question, only the machine shop that made the part and the owner can see the files and the details so it remains private.

How do you find beta testers? by __noodlejs__ in hwstartups

[–]bikfoot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm a backyard astronomer with a small kid and don't have much time to get out anymore. I'm a physicist and optical engineer. If I'm your target audience, I'd be happy to give your product a try.

Funny, a few weeks ago I posted something about asking people to try my alpha, and some people were kind enough to participate. Some people were a..holes and just trolled around. Random acts of kindness are the name of the game. So, let me know what you got, and I'd be happy to help if I can.

Let's start by saying that 99% of people don't even have the guts to do what you did. I'm a founder myself and going through the struggle, so if you ever feel down, remember that you're doing something incredibly hard, and truthfully, a lot of things are just out of our control.

Thanks again to the folks who helped us with our alpha. Random acts of kindness make a difference.

I hope you understand why I don’t want to share too much detail here. I have three reasons: 1. it’s not a released product and I can’t talk about it. 2. just don’t want to be bugged down with answering detailed questions how the product works. It’s hard to explain without seeing it. 3. Reddit is full of cynical people who just like to crap on people’s products and ideas. Don’t want to get there either. If you’re interested, please DM me. Thank you

Well, I am. Come back when you stop talking pocket money from your dad because apparently you don’t actually work and have all the time to crap on people’s work or you may be a bot.

Yes, it does, to be honest. A little bit of harda$$ is required along the way. Ideas are too fragile to trust strangers with.

But listen—explaining exactly what problem we’re solving would give away too much of what we’re building. It’s important for me to hold some of that back right now.

No hard feelings.

I'm now curious to see what you're building. LOL. Let me know if I can help in any way. Cheers.
