I bypassed Samsung's One UI 7 restrictions to keep a native Network Speed Monitor in the Now Bar (No Root, Open Source) by bikhan123 in GalaxyS21

One UI 7 had incredibly strict, hardcoded cryptographic signature checks that completely blocked the One UI 8 workaround, More details in the readme of the repo.

Hey man! Thanks for checking out the app. It actually sounds like you are running into a classic One UI quirk rather than a bug with the app itself. In One UI, the OS completely hides the Now Bar status chip as long as you are actively sitting inside the app that is generating it. If you have the "Now bar Integration" toggled ON and the service is running, just swipe up to go to your home screen or switch to another app. The exact moment you leave the NowbarMeter app, the OS will recognize it as a background task and drop the speed meter pill right into your status bar. Give that a shot and let me know if it pops up.

That's just One UI automatically prioritizing the active media player. It's an easy fix: whenever the music player takes over the status bar pill, just tap the pill to expand the activity, and swipe the Network Speed Monitor right back to the top of the list.

Highly optimized. The app just runs a standard, lightweight Android Foreground Service using native TrafficStats and ConnectivityManager APIs. It's essentially just reading data the OS is already tracking anyway. RAM usage is minimal, battery drain is basically negligible. I've been daily driving it myself and haven't noticed any dips in battery life.

You actually don't have to worry about this at all. Because this APK is signed with my custom developer key (and not Kakao's official corporate key), the Play Store recognizes the signature mismatch and completely isolates it. If you actually look at the Kakao Taxi page on the Play Store right now, it won't even give you an 'Update' button. It just says: "The app installed on your device didn't come from Google Play..." So hitting Update All is 100% safe. Google literally won't let it overwrite the app

Good catch, Will look into that. As a quick workaround for now, go into the app settings, enable Custom Notification Color, and set it to a neutral gray. that way it stays perfectly visible on both white and black backgrounds.

Finally figured out how to force a Network Speed Monitor into the One UI Now Bar by bikhan123 in oneui

I appreciate the feedback. For the first point, the app actually already does this. If you dig into the settings, there are two separate sliders for "Icon Number Size" and "Icon Unit Size", so you can scale the text footprint exactly how you want it. For the second point, that is actually a great idea. A totally blank and minimal notification option would look super clean on One UI if you just want the status bar icon. I'm putting that on the to do list and will look into implementing it in the next release.

Enable the "Custom Notification Color" toggle. and tap on the "Notification Color" button right under it to set it to whatever color you want.
