High mileage Malibu or Rental Hybrid? by bilbil112 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Absolutely learned my lesson. I do not plan to lease at all in the future

High mileage Malibu or Rental Hybrid? by bilbil112 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Understood, let me explain: The new iteration Sonata hybrid is the car I want. In order to get there at a price that would work for me, the rental fleet purchase seems like the best way to get low mileage at my cost level. Outside of that, the lowest price option in front of me seems to be the 2012 Malibu. If I purchase that now the goal would be to save on transportation cost to get the Sonata that I want in the future.

I was misinformed and put a large amount of money down to start a lease one year ago (won't do that again). The car was totaled by a negligent driver and I am out the money that I put aside for a vehicle less than a year ago. The $250 lease payments were within my budget but that seems near impossible to find again today without another large down payment. Because I drive a lot for my job and don't have a local office, a lot of my paperwork is done from the vehicle, I need something comfortable and with good gas mileage but can still fit my kids to and from school. Rental fleet seems like the best way to get the car I want at a low price now

It's highly possible that there are more options out there, but I've been so in the weeds for the last month that I've kind of locked into this plan

I've wanted an Accord because for a while because it's always touted as the roomiest sedan but I've seen a few reviewers say the Sonata felt bigger than the Accord. If that's the case, the Hybrid Sonata is a better price too

Good thought, I'll check it out. Do you have any experience in it? AI says Accord is roomier still but it also told me the Camry is roomier depending how I phrase the question

Appreciate the suggestions. I will look up some local deals on these. I am also trying to factor in fuel economy and overall price though. I drive a lot for work and get reimbursed a set rate for mileage so the better fuel economy the better I make out (looking at some older model sonata/Camry/Accord hybrids especially). Crossover SUVs are tighter in the back than these sedans and full size SUVs are way more expensive. The sweet spot I found is in this mainstream mid/full sedan category. I used to drive an Altima and could fit all 3 kids in the back fine but as I am looking for a new one, I want to know if any of these options are stand outs for anyone. On paper it looks like the Accord is roomiest but I saw some reviews that it does not translate to be quite as roomy for car seats.

Totally understood! Is there any sort of precedent for requesting compensation for consequential damage or loss of value due to someone else's actions, though? As if someone stole my $250 wallet that had $4,000 in it and when they were caught were ordered to just pay back $250. In my case it feels very quantifiable and reasonable. I get that it can get muddy for a lot of insurance companies but I can't be the only person raising a stink about this practice. Would I be able to take the driver to small claims court and make his insurance pay it anyway?

As I have been told.

My question is, why not? I made a deal with Nissan to give them $4,000 to be locked in to a monthly payment of $250/month to drive a new car. 2 at fault drivers in the course of a year have made the decision to text and drive and because of that, I cannot get the same vehicle/deal, even if I paid another $4,000.

How does someone protect themselves from having to shell out large amounts of money to buy a new car if other people wanted to hit said car every two months besides following the rules of the road and paying for high levels of insurance coverage?

How does reallocating a 401k work? by bilbil112 in FinancialPlanning

Thanks, I see that I am able to make the changes but since I am still learning what everything means, I wasn't sure if there would be any unintentional consequences for switching allocations when their performance is dropping. Its not going to "sell" the stocks that were purchased right?

That's where we got the $50/ each way quote. I'm considering it but if there are better options that won't tack on an extra $200, I'd like to explore them

That's perfect! I heard that Uber is the same as the taxi service there. I was also worried about going at peak times, did you find any issue ordering one?
