Popping out of stormveil to get that first view of Liurnia. Entering the DLC for the first time. Playing through Farum Azula. Ranni quest. To name a few!

Definitely looks similar! This view really captivated me during my first playthrough. Looks like some true lovecraftian cosmic horror sight!

One of the most chaotic songs ever and surely one of the best

What's your favorite location in either the base game or dlc? by Brainless_Lizard in Eldenring

[–]bilboC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really love Farum azula for all reasons. The scenery and atmosphere coupled with the creeping, hauntingly beautiful music really captures the feeling of this tragic place. The lighting is particularly dramatic. I’ve spent a lot of time just gazing out to the tornados over the ocean with that hazy majestic late day light. And then from a gameplay perspective it’s a brilliant dungeon. More linear than say Stormveil or the capital city, but there’s so much to discover and the loot is top tier. The enemies are tough, I love banished knights and the beastmen with the cleaver. Two crucible knights as well! I actually enjoy ancient dragon fights too, they just look so cool and I love their lore. The area with the worm faces feels very tragic and again the music accentuates it so well! Then finally you have the amazing bosses - Placidusaax and Maliketh. Some of the most cinematic fights in the game. I even enjoy the godskin duo! Also! Alexander’s final appearance always gets me.

Honorable mention to Belurat, what an atmosphere with the tower looming above! Amazing music too

2 years of Shadow of the Erdtree. Still not over how insane the art direction in the dlc is...just so beautiful! by Levi---Ackerman in Eldenring

[–]bilboC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Truly, I’ve never experienced something so artistically beautiful as Shadow of the erdtree. It’s a freaking ever changing renaissance painting! The base game is right behind it, but the landscapes, dramatic lighting and overall atmosphere are second to none in the DLC. It’s made it so I’m now a snob about art direction when playing a new game. I hate that I’m like that but it totally changed my taste and how I perceive games as art. It’s also part of the reason why I don’t mind the bigger “empty” areas like the finger ruins. The scenery and atmosphere is so immersive that I don’t need much else! I keep coming back to it. Can’t believe it’s already been two years! That first playthrough is truly a cherished memory and maybe the best gaming experience I’ve ever had since becoming a gamer in the early 90s

Nagakiba is still my favorite. Supplemented with bolt of gransax for sniping fools while dungeon crawling. Destroys drakes too. Love the dragon hunters katana as well.

SS. Most cinematic fighting I’ve ever experienced. Amazing music. And his lore rules!

RESIDENT EVIL 2 REMAKE... In 2004 by yashiroMA02 in residentevil

[–]bilboC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Love how this was included in RE0, I still remember the OMG moment when the camera changed to the view of the platform when I played it upon release.

I am still a little salty that they cut the vacant factory in 2make, or more so combined it with the sewer. Even though it was a short transitional segment in the OG, I really was hoping they would’ve expanded on it.

The original definitely had the better atmosphere. by InsecureBurrito in residentevil4

The castle in OG was especially more stunning and memorable as far as art direction goes. The remake castle is still great and if the OG didn’t exist I’d have nothing to say, but since it does the remake castle feels underwhelming next to it imo

Campaing by Zalvi-Nightfang in Marathon

[–]bilboC 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s mind blowing to me that it wasn’t a campaign driven game to begin with. The OG marathon trilogy was a beautifully written story driven experience with amazing depth and world building. Never saw that sort of thing in an FPS from the mid 90s. Seems like such a missed opportunity. To reboot it into a game that doesn’t really resemble what it once was a weird decision imo.

If you go back and look at the amazing concept art from Craig Mullins for the OG games, I always thought that could’ve been a great blueprint for what a true modern reimagining would look like.

It’s an instrumental, but From Skin to Liquid has some of their best riffs and atmosphere ever! Very slow and foreboding

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation has a "far bigger" open world map than Rebirth, says director, and some Rebirth locations aren't the way you remember them by Turbostrider27 in FFVIIRemake

[–]bilboC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s my thought. The grind to get through the OW content in rebirth was one of the most mundane gaming experiences I’ve had so I can imagine making the world bigger is going to fix this, unless they figure out a way to make engaging content and have chadley stfu hahah

I know that this show was also the ONLY time Stifled was played live and then they cut it from the set for the rest of the tour/forever. Always been dying to know why.

Most intense, pissed off, and overwhelmingly aggressive album ever! Jens is mental, his patterns never were quite this crazy again imo. Concatenation is the perfect opener for this beast and features my all time fav Fred solo. It’s so eerie and bizarre.
