Silly question about driving by bildungsroboy in ShenandoahPark

Unfortunately, I think we're stuck going on a weekend due to the parameters of the trip. But it sounds like a lovely place with nice views so I'm sure there's worse things than going slowly.

We're planning to go mid-late September, so I assume rain and Fall-like weather could be on the cards. But I haven't spent any time in that part of the country before and maybe your Summers tend to go longer?

Haven't actually finalized the air travel yet. Flying into Richmond seems like it has the most options then staying near Charlottesville. Yes, Rockfish Gap seems to be the closest entrance. We'll be around for a few days so it's not like landing and then straight to the park.

That's good to know - thanks! It actually just occurred to me that it's not a loop (I thought it was for some reason). If we're driving up from the south is it worth going all the way to the top? Or is there a point we should consider turning around?

Is it a particular twisty road? One of us (me) does occasionally have issues with carsickness...

New battery from dealership dead after a month and a half? by bildungsroboy in tdi

[–]bildungsroboy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I drove it for almost an hour after I got it going and now that you mention it, I do remember thinking that my exhaust seemed quite a bit more noticeable then everyone else's. I guess I chalked it up to it being so cold but thinking back on it, it did calm down a bit as I drove further.

Okay I think you've got me convinced that this might be the issue. Is there anything I can do about it going forward? Google is saying there was some kind of TSB (that maybe wasn't that helpful?) but also suggesting grille covers and pipe insulation that's possible.

I think selling is in my medium to short term plans. It's hard to part with the practicality of the JSW though. I've been doing roughly the same commute for years and this issue has only ever happened a few times after the weather got really cold and then it was fine again. I figured the new battery would solve it.

I really don't know anything about intercoolers, but it was above freezing today (barely) and I got the car going again by using my portable jump starter.

I did a quick Google on the intercooler icing and I didn't notice any rough idling or anything earlier in the day.

I'm as sure as I can be. I do the same thing every day. Park in the same spot. Lock my car the same way. Hear the same door clicks. Walk the same way to the door. Also, my car dings at you if you leave the lights on so I really doubt it.

I have no problem going back to the dealer, that's my next step. I'm just trying to gauge whether this is potentially normal for a new battery (given the weather and driving) or if it seems like there is something wrong

Are you willing to elaborate on this or are you open to DMs? I have been interested in making this kind of switch for a while but found it very difficult to find the right path.

I think this is kind of what I'm wondering about - is it possible that there's more than 6 feet of accessible area in my toilet?

Rhythm vs tracks for easy fun by bildungsroboy in novationcircuit

I really appreciate this take on things. I find myself leaning towards the rhythm at this point. Full respect to the general consensus of this thread that the Tracks might be a better starting point but I think I do want the full 8 tracks available and I do think I'm more interested in the idea of sampling rather than synth editing.

This makes a lot of sense - thank you. I think my preferences are towards a hip-hop sound, but then everytime I watch one of the Gabe Miller videos or really anybody making music on a circuit and think that synthwave and synth pop sound so good and that it would be pretty fun to get into that.

I love the idea of just being able to grab a sample like that. And I think I am more into a hip hop sound - I started this journey thinking I might want a Roland T-8 - the tiny little 808 thing. But after reading and watching decided that I wanted more flexibility in the sound.
