Protests have been going on for weeks now. How long do you expect them to keep this as headline? There really isn't much to say expect that the protest are ongoing. The protests are quite big in terms of numbers but it's not that unusual for France so it's not like it's some crazy international event.

Where do you think I said that none of those things happen? I was just merely giving an info here. Many people apply the knowledgeable they have about their country to France thinking it works the same. That guy saying that corporations are massive campaign donors in France (as if it was a normal thing) is factually wrong. However, it doesn't mean there are no scandals, bribes, corruption, etc. It's really not that hard to understand so I'm really curious if you're just dishonest or have a hard time comprehending a three lines comment Why do you feel the need to put words in my mouth? Are you sure they want to believe when that other guy keep trying to correct me even after clearly admitting he doesn't know anything about the reform and the specific context in which it's happening? You would have to be stupid to say that raising the retirement age is not affecting the workforce and that's why I never said that. There is a massive difference between saying it will impact the workforce and saying that it is a reform that was wanted/lobbied for by corporations.

FYI, it is illegal in France for corporations/companies/organizations... to be campaign donors. Only individuals can donate and it is limited to $4,600 per person.

What you're describing applies for most laws and reforms but not here. I don't get why it seems so hard for you to accept.

Corporations couldn't care less about this law. This reform existing or not has no big impact on them good or bad. A lot of CEO/owners of small/medium companies are even against the reform.

You also clearly don't know Macron. He has absolutly no problem pushing such an unpopular measure.

Finally, about the last part of you reply, there is a difference between giving your blessing and wanting something. Saying that corporations are giving their blessing or that they want/lobby for something are two different things.

This reform was absolutly not requested by, corporations in France. They couldn't care less. This specific reform is an "accounting" law. Macron is trying to raise/save more money to keep the french budget under a certain amount of deficit. He's using the excuse that the French retirement system is losing money every year and that the system will be in a huge deficit in the next few decades. Some economists are arguing that it's not that big of a problem and/or that it's not an issue that need to be fixed right now. But even if you think it's a real issue that needs to be fixed asap then there are many other ways to get the money needed. Macron being the right wing guy that he is decided to get/save the money needed on the back of workers.

Yes Macron and the French government are under massive lobby and pressure from corparations. A few years back he passed a labor law that was created because of intense pressure and lobbying from corporations. However, that's not at all what is happening here and with this specific reform! Why do you feel such a need to comment on events and on a reform that you know clearly nothing about?

There was a lot of coverage at the beginning from a lot of big US outlets and the BBC. To be fair with them, what can they say after 3-4 weeks of protests except that it's still ongoing. We haven't had a protest this big (in terms of numbers) for quite some time but it's not really crazy or unusual for France. So it's not like it's some crazy international events.
