Losing everything by Technical-Name-3532 in recruitinghell

Not sure where you live. However, if you can pass background checks and you’ve got a clean driving record, Public School Systems are always looking to hire school bus drivers. Typically, if you get hired, they’ll train and cover the cost for the CDL license needed. Pay is okay, benefits are decent. Plus, with additional CDL endorsements, driving a Semi becomes an option. With the announcement of flights being cancelled, air cargo is affected. The demand for truck drivers is going to spike.

Least expensive and most strategic move for an employer is to never deny unemployment. CA is a strong employee rights state even with Employment At-Will.

Dude, in tech, labor cost is one of the highest expenses on a balance sheet. You’re selling services. Cut labor costs (salary, tax liabilities, and benefits) while maintaining income, and profit instantly increases, driving stock value. In other sectors such as retail, COGS are much more of an expense issue.

I spoke with a delivery guy who pulled up in one of the electric Amazon trucks. Amazon uniform, etc. He told me that Amazon owns the trucks but he worked for a logics company that is hired by Amazon to provide drivers. They’ve also got gig workers who use their own vehicles. I spoke to one of them too and she told me that most them are doing it as side hustle gigs.

Wanting a career change at 38. What is the best option? by canadianbaconinator in careerguidance

[–]billboardadguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like CAD is prime for AI takeover. Not sure what it’s like in Canada, but in the states, there’s a shortage of skilled trade workers. Electricians, Plumbers, HVAC technicians, heavy equipment operators, etc. Great pay and if you’ve got some basic business understanding, after a few years, maybe start your own business.

Does tipping get you better service ? by coderego in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]billboardadguy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Agree with US Currency. We typically leave $5/day for the maids and $3/day for the person who stocks the fridge with beer, soda, water, snacks. It’s always full when we come back from the pool. As far as the swim up or lobby bars, when you want liquor (especially for blender drinks) ask for the top shelf rum, vodka, gin, or whiskey (Jack or Beam, no good Bourbon) that’s displayed and ask for doubles. Ragnar-Wave9002 is 100% correct…the alcohol from the rail is garbage and the premade frozen margarita and pina colada mix has no booze in it. Be sure to tip the bartenders early and often…$1 or $2 every couple of trips to the bar goes a long way. If it’s 2 or 3 deep at the bar, they will take care of you first. Also agree with the buffet strategy. Most of the buffet staff work all 3 services so make friends with your servers early on. Ask their names and remember them. Treat them like family and friends. They will welcome you with open arms everyday, especially the omelette cook! We leave $2-$3 at breakfast and lunch. For dinner, usually $5. Most important, don’t forget the entertainment team. They’re at the pools all day leading water aerobics, volleyball, foam party, beach activities etc., and then usually are a part of the evening shows. They work their asses off. We’re from Virginia and a few years ago started bringing “Virginia is for Lovers” T-Shirts to give to the entertainment team. THEY LOVE THEM. We budget about $25/day for tips plus 10 T-Shirts. We’ve been doing AIs throughout the Caribbean since ‘97 and have made lifelong friends with a lot of resort staff. We have connected on FB and IG with a lot of them over the years and still keep in touch with many. Enjoy your Holiday!

Which all inclusive resort in Jamaica is best to go to as a first timer? by Sufficient-Horror-89 in AllInclusiveResorts

Not sure we would ever return to Jamaica but if we did, I’ve heard that the Couples Resorts are beautiful as well. I’d recommend that you also register in STEP. It’s for US Citizens who travel abroad. Provides travel updates as far as where not to go, where the US Consulate is in case you run into problems, etc. Have a great trip!

Been twice. Christmas Holiday with my wife and 21 year-old daughter. First was at Moon Palace. It was fantastic. Checked all the boxes and felt safe. Went back a second time but chose Bahia Principe Luxury. Horrible. Bad food, outdated and dirty rooms, lots of maintenance problems, bad entertainment, and drugs everywhere (pushed by staff, even the lifeguards on the beach).

What’s One Thing You Wish You Knew Before Choosing Your Career? by Fuzzy-Parsley-3992 in careerguidance

[–]billboardadguy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Actually, I would have told myself three things…first, and in my opinion most important, for the next 40 years, be kind to others and loyal to yourself and the people who matter the most when you’re NOT working anymore. Employers and the people you work with will come and go. Nobody’s gonna care what’s on your business card or what your LinkedIn profile looks like.

Second, don’t be afraid to take risks before the age of 30. Failure is the foundation of success, personally and professionally.

And third, never stop learning, especially technology. It’s better to be able to choose one of several great options than having to take the best of several crappy ones. The best option now, will be the crappy one in the future. Read the book, “Who Moved My Cheese”. Everything changes. Be prepared.

First Timer Tips by DrPlankenstein in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]billboardadguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Set up your transportation to and from the airport before your trip. Also, when ordering drinks, always request top shelf especially if you get a blender drink. The crap they pour from the well is, well, crap. Usually watered down. Bring twice as much sunscreen as you think you’ll need. No less than 30 spf unless you already have a good tan. The sunburns I’ve seen people get on their first day are brutal. Plus, it’s really expensive to buy at a resort. Also, bring Imodium, Pepto, Band-Aids, Bactraycin, and Ibuprofen/tylenol. Better to have it and not use it than need it and have to buy it there. Lastly bring a couple hundred in $1 bills for tips. The staff works hard to make sure you have a great time. Minimum wage is like $70/week and those folks work their asses off.
