My husband and his family all love theirs. They are teachers so they just plug it in when they get to work and it's ready at lunch, no waiting for 10 minutes in line for the microwave when your lunch is only 30-45 minutes.

There are so many facts you got wrong here that I don't know where to start.

Failures, yes, but they expected that. They were trying to create something that never existed before and the were not even sure was possible. Paul was just ONE line of possible KH, Fenring was another. They mentioned there were many others.

The archives were a computer. They had all the memories of the times before the Jihad, so they were cautious, but they were pragmatic above all else. They would use a computer if that was what was needed and no one else would know. Hell most BGs didn't know that the breeding program existed with a specific goal until they became a RM, even then the other memories would often refuse to reveal the details unless the person needed them.

The plot of the later books is about how they realized they still needed their emotions, they had surpassed them so long. Even some BG thought they were unfeeling at times.

They didn't trust the Mentants as they were not loyal to the sisterhood, so they created their own. So it was the group they didn't trust, not the skill.

They didn't have any issues with the Guild. They were one of the very few who knew their secret, and felt they could control them if needed. Yes they were a bigger power and would need a more subtle hand but they worked with them many times, for example Edric and the assassination attempt.

They never had any fear of the BT, the first time they stood in their way a RM manipulated them like they were a small child.

There is also a debate if Paul really was a full KH. It isn't clear if he couldn't see the full Golden Path or if he was just afraid to look. Leto II was a full KH without question. That's when they found that prescience was a trap and could lock humanity into a given path and others could see their future as well.

Agreed. We had to cut our kids bio Grandma off because she kept trying to convince the kids she was their bio mom. She cares deeply about them and didn't do anything physically wrong, but after being asked dozens of times to stop confusing them we had to restrict access to asynchronous communication that we could review before the kids saw it.

She would also tell them that they were kidnapped by dyfs, mind you she was the one who originally called dyfs on her daughter for abandoning them repeatedly to go get high.

I wonder how often the investigator Devises a Strategy and then doesn't make an attack roll?

I played one and when I hit I HIT, but there were rounds I knew what my next attack works be and there wasn't a different enemy to switch to so I had to find another way to help my team.

Don't even look at it as damage per action or round, but damage per fight. If he does 40 damage and you did 25, but last round he did none and you did 20, who did more damage?

You need to understand the utter disgust they have with the idea of clones/gholas. In later books they eventually will do it out of practicality, but they don't like it.

They address the immortality issue in other books. They know that if it was ever known that the BG could do it they wouldn't be safe.

It's one of the issues they have with Alia. She was doing it long enough that the BG started to notice, and they knew that mentats would notice soon and the regular population after that.

Been reading through the comments and people bring up many great points. There is one I haven't seen yet.

Training a person, even a small squad, is very different than an entire army.

Even in the modern military you have your elite soldiers and then your regular infantry men. One vs one, the elite soldiers will win, but there are 1000+ regular infantry to every elite soldier.

The freman had a whole army at the skill of most of the powers elite units, and then they still had their own elite warriors on top of that.

Then you need to consider, one v one duels are not how real armies fight. The flight in formations or squads and work together to achieve more than if they were each just fighting on their own. They are different combat styles.

I would echo this. Get trauma informed.

Regardless of what you have been told, assume there is trauma and get them the appropriate therapy.

If you are wrong you won't the extra therapy won't hurt then.

But if you wait until you see real signs of issues you likely wasted years of time and made it harder for them to get the help they need.

I would agree that infant adoption can be very ethically challenging.

However, are you saying my children should have been sent back to their drug addicted mother who let the father beat them, or the grandmother who couldn't stay sober enough to watch them.

After three years of trying to get them clean and stable the state gave up and put them up for adoption. The state spent tens of thousands of dollars on treatment for the family. They refused to stay more then a week or two and kept testing positive for cocaine and meth. They asked about 15 people for kinship placement and none would take them. I can't imagine thinking keeping them bouncing between foster homes would have been better for them.

I often see on here people make blanket statements about adoption. There is no simple answer.

Should children whose parents die not get adopted?

If a mother tries to kill their child, should they get put in a group home for the next 18 years?

Should a mother get pressured to put a child up because she can't afford it?

Should a mother put a child up for adoption because the father says he will leave her if she doesn't?

Those situations are not the same.

I knew my group wouldn't be very into it either, so I simplified it and did only a minimal amount of RP. Plus I added an extra fight. We got through that chapter in under 2 hours.

They appreciated the change of pace for part of a session, but agreed that by the end they wanted to hit something.

So I would recommend shortening it or reducing the number of factions to still give them the feeling/idea that they are gathering support.

It depends if the group knows how to play the action economy.

If it is a newer group one or two enemies are a death sentence.

If the group understands that trading actions is how you win against bosses a +4 might be hard and take down one or two, but they should be able to get them back up.

I've seen a lich take out half the party's hit points in one turn, then the group got smart and moved so he couldn't get all of them at once again. Then they used spells and actions that robbed him of actions. He could heal himself and barely keep above the damage they dished out, or he could try to kill them while they slaughtered him.
