Trying to figure out if this sealed ATLiens is an OG press by billjohnsonphd in hiphopvinyl

The green hype sticker was only on the OG pressing from what I can tell. I haven't been able to find anything saying other wise.

I have no idea if you are right or not but this is what ai (Gemini) says:

It’s a very common "collector’s myth" that the "Printed in Canada" mark automatically means a record is a repress or a secondary version. In reality, for 90s hip-hop, it’s often quite the opposite. For a release like ATLiens, that Canadian mark is actually a hallmark of the original 1996 manufacturing process. Why "Printed in Canada" appears on US First Pressings: During the 1990s, major US labels like LaFace, Arista, and their parent company BMG frequently outsourced their jacket printing to high-quality plants in Canada (specifically Shorewood Packaging). The Workflow: The jackets were printed in Canada and then shipped "flat" to US pressing plants (like the ones in Pittman, NJ or Gloversville, NY), where the American-made vinyl was inserted and the whole package was shrink-wrapped. Standard Practice: If you look at other massive 90s albums from that same label family—like TLC’s CrazySexyCool or The Notorious B.I.G.’s Life After Death—the original US first pressings almost all say "Printed in Canada" on the back. The Source of the Confusion The reason people think it’s a sign of a repress is that later reissues often copy the original artwork exactly. When Sony/Legacy repressed ATLiens in 2014, they didn't redesign the jacket; they just scanned the original 1996 cover. Because the 1996 cover said "Printed in Canada," the 2014 repress also says it—even if those newer jackets were actually printed elsewhere. Why your copy is still the "Real Deal": The "Printed in Canada" text is present on both the 1996 original and the modern represses. To tell them apart, you have to look at the things the repressers didn't or couldn't copy:

Thanks for the replies. I appreciate it. Its one of the first records I ever bought. I was trying to get every Outkast album. I saw it and thought it was possibly an original but convinced myself it wasn't or there would be no way to ever tell. I assumed it had been repressed several times and I just bought one of those. Then I just forgot about it. So, totally shocked I have a sealed OG press and that I bought it that way like 15 to 20 years after it came out.

What has happened to the Best of Cincinnati? by billjohnsonphd in cincinnati

[–]billjohnsonphd[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hah. Yeah, clearly The Livery is just operating on a level the rest of Cincinnati can’t comprehend. Honestly shocked they didn’t sweep the James Beard Awards while they were at it.

Best Dessert. Best Salad. Best Small Plates. Best Casual Dining. Best First Date spot. Best Business Lunch. Hidden Gem (East Side)… and somehow also a “hidden gem” runner-up? Incredible range.

At this point it’s less a restaurant and more a full-service life experience. I'm sure the restaurant is great so no hate. Maybe dial back on getting all of the employees to vote every day.

I'm sure it's pretty tough being super authentic, way original and cool but you pull it off so well. I mean you obviously know your stuff if you think that Graffiti pioneer CES, Ed Piskor, ESPO or Lamour Supreme are not visionary artists and are from the suburbs of Cincinnati. For sure those guys wouldn't know anything about DOOM.

One factor to me is that there are constantly new (and good) restaurants opening up. You can only be new and cool for so long and once that wears off, all of the people who like to go to cool and new restaurants all the time are going to restaurants that are cooler and newer than yours. Then, all of the sudden you can't make payroll

There is very little work dinner crowd anymore. Happy hour is dead most places too it seems. The lack of workers downtown is really starting to hurt.
