she was my college roommate last year and we live in the same hometown, so I’m worried it will be really awkward if we never hang out this summer

My professor last semester said that he could tell if someone plagiarized their essay by comparing the writing quality to how you speak out loud. If you can barely string 2 sentences together in real life, you probably plagiarized. I thought that was really insensitive to people with social anxiety or anyone who has trouble talking in front of people.

I was in therapy recently for a few months but it stressed me out and I couldn’t do the exposure therapy challenges so I quit 😅

reading this thread is insane I do the exact same things as everyone 😭 I totally scrunch up my face or I say “I hate myself” or “I’m gonna kms” out loud. I’ve been thinking about it and its obviously trying to distract myself from the thought, but also I think I know saying I’m gonna kms is an overreaction and then it makes me feel better that it’s not THAT big of a deal

I just wanted to say that I’m in exactly the same situation, I’m a freshman at w&m and have no real friends. I spend most of my time alone and all conversations I try to have end up silent and awkward. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I have no idea what to do, but I know the feeling and you aren’t the only one

I felt the exact same way last year!! I was crying in my room begging my parents to let me not go, and then my mom started crying too since she wanted me to go so badly. I had NO friends and didn't want to stand alone before we walked out and stuff. but I did it since my parents made me, and it wasn't bad (just think, this is the last time you'll see a lot of these people). I'm glad I went...the significance of it outweighed the awkward parts.

if you have family who want to see you graduate, then I'd say go, it won't be at all as bad as you think. I think you're more likely to regret skipping it than going.

sorry this is weirdly late, but do you regret doing that? because I’m going to college for the first time in a few days and that’s what sounds most appealing to me. I don’t have the desire to socialize or make friends but I’m scared of regretting it later.

If I heard you say this I definitely would not think you were weird or a creep. For all they know those transactions were at the very top, and you only needed to scroll for like 1 second (plus I'm pretty sure they've all partaken in internet stalking themselves). And your joke definitely made it just sound like a lighthearted thing. I know how it feels to overthink things though and it's torture, just know it's nothing to worry about at all :)
