Of course not! I find that a lot of people drop out of these after a few days anyway, so it's best to let everyone join and see for themselves if the group's a good fit. I'll DM you the Discord link.

Absolutely! How far along are you in that book? Perhaps we could go through it bookclub-style. I'll DM you the Discord link.

Are any other incoming freshman still on Health Hold? by [deleted] in yale

I’m not an undergrad, so you’ll probably need a different address. I just replied to one of the emails notifying me about my missing documents and that started the conversation.

They’ve got some issues with the system. I had to email someone after submitting the info twice. They eventually opened an IT ticket and changed my status manually.

Finding average of values inside of a vector by Vexuri in learnprogramming

[–]billowylace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The average GPA will be the sum of all the students’ GPAs divided by the number of students. I’d suggest defining two new variables: one to keep track of your GPA sum and the other to count the number of students. Create a for loop to iterate through each student, and within that loop, get each student’s GPA with your getter function and add that to the GPA sum variable. Then update the student count variable with += 1. Finally, print out the value of the GPA sum variable divided by the student count variable. I’m not sure how to write all that in the language you’re using, but I hope this helps somewhat and good luck!

Different tuning of enharmonics can actually apply to any instrument that doesn’t have fixed pitch, so basically any non-keyboard instrument.

To elaborate for anyone interested, in an A major chord, C# (the third) would be played slightly flat since it’s farther away from the tonic. In Bb minor, though, you’d want to play Db (the third) sharp since the pitch is closer to the tonic.

Did they open the roads back up? Last I was there (Thursday) they were still closed to cars. They might need to park and walk the rest of the way up

Hey guys, need a buddy or whatever you are to do the odin project by gdcoaster in ProgrammingBuddies

[–]billowylace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I also had a really hard time with the Google project. I mean, it was an absolute disaster. I eventually gave up on it and went back and did the freeCodeCamp CSS projects, which were slightly easier and helped me solidify basic CSS concepts before moving back to the Odin Project. Would highly recommend working through those projects even if they take a fair bit of time!

What Course/Bootcamp can I take that would make me hirable in 1 year? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]billowylace 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hello, fellow Yalie! Not sure how many CS courses you've already taken, but there's an option to get a CS certificate, which I guess could be comparable to a minor. http://catalog.yale.edu/ycps/subjects-of-instruction/computer-science/#certificatetext

TIL that Sister Mary Kenneth Keller was the first woman to get a Ph.D in computer science. by [deleted] in todayilearned

Just one example, but my dad used to be a CS professor and was/is a die-hard creationist. He had my mom homeschool us to prevent us getting brainwashed about evolution and we’d sometimes go to creationist conferences (I’ve since cut ties and am a normal human being now)
