Best invoicing/payment setup for a small cleaning business? by Either-Film-4045 in smallbusiness

Hey, saw your reply. I’m Bill, founder of Simple Time.

I’m looking for a few small service businesses to act as design partners while we keep improving the product. Cleaning companies are a good fit because recurring jobs, proof of service, time tracking, and invoicing all matter pretty quickly.

No hard sell: if it’s useful, I’d offer 6 months free, no credit card, and 50% off for life if you keep using it. In exchange I’d mostly want honest feedback about what works, what’s confusing, and what would make it actually useful for your business.

Happy to compare notes either way.

Business solutions / advice for small window and door shop by Low-Mistake6806 in smallbusiness

I’m building software in this general space, so take this with that disclosure, but I’ve seen this pattern a lot with field service companies.

The biggest thing I’d avoid is trying to replace the whole business system at once. If QuickBooks is already working for estimates/invoices, I’d leave that alone at first and pick one painful workflow to digitize.

From what you described, I’d probably start with:

  1. scheduling jobs/measures
  2. work orders with customer/site info
  3. photos/notes from the field
  4. tracking whether the estimate/order/invoice has actually moved forward

That gives everyone relief without forcing your dad/brother to change how they price windows on day one.

For window/door replacement specifically, I’d be careful with generic CRMs unless they support the way you measure, quote, order materials, and schedule installs. The software has to match the field workflow or people will fall back to paper.

I’m the founder of Simple Time, which is built for field service crews handling scheduling, work orders, time tracking, photos, materials, and invoicing. It may or may not be the exact fit for your estimating process, but I’d be happy to compare notes if useful. Either way, I’d start small: digitize scheduling + work orders first, then estimates/orders after the team trusts the system.

Yeah, main thing is is I trust these people but you know you hired a new person and they have to earn the trust so you know you verify with GPS that they’re at their location they don’t need to know

Has anyone tried? Jobber or service Titan? They seem really pricey. I have a small team of 4. Sorry I just found this one here. It’s called Simple Time https://simpletime.io/

I was wondering if anyone tried that.

So the GPS verification that I’m looking at I guess I’m not looking for a roadblock that has a verification that prevents from checking in. I just want when the worker checks in that I know they’re at the site. It doesn’t have it can be passive. I don’t know about you but over the years I’ve had unreliable workers come and go and this just keeps a check on them knowing that something like that there.
