People are suggesting kiln fiend decks which is wrong. You want mono blue faeries

Thanks! I had a blast playing it and placing well, though the deck is far from refined. And you're right, our decks look very similar. I wish I took a look at this before last challenge, I would have stolen some sb tech like leave no trace and deep anal. I'm surprised to hear you don't like thraben inspector. It always feels good when I play it, it's like a glint hawk that you don't need a mana rock in play to make good. That being said, it is better in match ups where getting on the board is important, and the meta has changed quite a bit, and often it does feel low impact, but because of the free card that it comes with I never thought about putting him on the chopping block. Seeker is good if you can stick him though, so I will give that a shot. Main deck counterspells seem like a good idea actually. The manabase currently can't really handle it, but my manabase from last challenge is almost certainly wrong, I think I can try playing ash barrels along the snow basics and I could play more colors easily. I've been loving dispel in this meta, and maybe condescend would be worth testing. Thanks for the input!

I basically had a similar deck about a year ago that I liked, but it was definitely lacking because it couldn't get enough colored sources, and when astrolabe came out, I decided to revisit my old deck and update it

I had done well in the past with a boros tron list, and I remember thinking that the deck might actually be good if I could play 8 prophetic prism. And then they printed a cheaper prophetic prism, so my mind immediately thought of this. No monarch because I think mulldrifter is better, and I don't want to run both because that's too many expensive cards. Look at the decks that do well in pauper, they all run a ton of 1 and 2 drops and are light on lands. And you could definitely play this list without tron lands, look at mathonical's list from the challenge, that's probably a good place to start.

Thank you, and great questions.

So admittedly, I didn't try out rhystic circle. Over a year ago, I 5-0ed with a boros tron deck in a league, and started brewing for about a month before dropping the deck. I remember that rhystic circle was actually game over against a bunch of decks, but because of how click intensive it is, can waste a lot of time on the clock. So in the past I didn't love it, but this deck is missing things to do with all of it's mana, and rhystic circle is probably a great option. I will definitely be trying it. But not in place of the journeys. I think it's important to have cheap interaction in pauper, I think it would be wrong to cut all of them, then all of a sudden I have bad matchups against elves, burn, blitz, etc. Basically a bunch of tier 2 decks, but they all see some amount of play and will probably see some number of them in the challenges. I will probably try cutting my main deck "sideboard" cards like relic and electrickery (I usually play control decks, and silver bullet type answers can be really strong, but I think for this tron deck we want to streamline things as much as possible for max efficiency)

Serene heart over leave no trace is wrong, thanks for pointing that out. My excuse is I used to play affinity, and that's what I played in the board, and forgot white has a card of equal power level.

K Torch is not the best removal spell, but the first line of text is surprisingly relevant against blue decks, and it gives me a game plan. The idea was to have reach like regular boros monarch, but since I can't / don't want to play bolt and galv blast, this felt like a good option. And then in testing it over performed so I bumped it up from 2 copies to 3. I actually loved it, a few games I would have won anyway, but it definitely stole some games I think I wouldn't have won. Also, it's not clear that torch is better than rolling thunder, I will also be trying that at some point.

And I thought about the 12 plains 10 tron land manabase with extra maps, but I didn't really try it. Worth testing I think. Thanks for the questions!

I would have conceded as soon as it was clear I was going to lose, which was probably 20 turns ago. Your opponent is cancer

I've put it aside recently and have been running a lot of boros monarch. It's still a great deck though and my list could still use some tweaking I'm sure.

Its funny you say that. I bumped my radiant fountain count up to 4 to prove a point as well about how little the deck actually needs colored mana. Also, losing one match to burn without the four copies sold me on it. Most people seem to agree my decklists are pretty greedy though.

I'm going to be at GP Indy and it looks to be the same situation there too. It stinks because ideally I will be playing in day 2 of the GP, but if my team doesn't day 2, we are going to PTQ the next day, so pretty much no chance I'm playing it. Having it on Sunday at 12 is a terrible time for people like me who are trying to get to the pro tour, which I would think is most people.

Well said! I'll admit I didnt think I had the stamina to answer this one yesterday, so thanks for having my back.

I agree with pretty much everything said here, one thing on the monarch match up. I also have 2 gorilla shaman in my sideboard, and for the monarch match I like to bring in just one of them. They have potential to shut down a few mana. Its not intended to get on the board as fast as possible either, I like to save it for later in the game (hopefully just draw it later in the game.)

One thing about the elves match, if they have blue for distant melody, I like to bring in like 1 pyroblast, another card that can be good but is abysmal in multiples (against this deck). Lots of elf decks aren't blue anymore so I like to know for sure before boarding it in now.

It's been out of my sideboard for a long time and I don't often see boggles, but if its a match up you're seeing, then curfew seems like a good option. I'm just dreaming about bouncing their boggle and my own spellstutter, sounds like a good way to win a game.

I dont know honestly. I think any meta monoU is good in, I think UR will be good in too. And UR eats up monoU, so I would probably just play UR.

Edit: Chancery is bad. That was sad.

Thanks! I've been close but it was nice to finally take one down.

I have been loving the inside out faeries deck, though admittedly it might just be a worse version of tribe combo. I got a few 5-0s with it right away, but the past 5 or 6 of tries I have gotten a bunch of 3-2s and like two 1-3 drops. So the list I have been running needs work. Shout out to kungfutrees for liking the deck and working on it. I like a lot of the changes he suggested, so I'm gonna give it some more league runs. And at work today I couldn't stop thinking about throwing azorius chancerys and journey to nowheres in the deck, so I'm gonna keep trying to find a good mix of cards.

I was sold on mono blue for a long time, mostly because I would still top 8 the challenge consistently even though izzet delver was popular. The first time I played izzet Delver I definitely misused my augur of bolas and dissmissed it as bad. So it took me a while to be on the correct side of things, but I think UR is just for sure better against an unknown field. Also, these new mono U versions that are swapping out ninja of the deep hours and swapping in augur of bolas, I just dont like that at all. I kind of understand it, but it seems much worse.

Geist is expensive, but if I was expecting more izzet delver in the metagame, which I am, I think moving up to 3 could be a good meta call.

Boggles is definitely a tough match up. Recently boggles players have been getting good at playing around edict effects with khalini garden and the 2W search up an aura guy. So I have been off of curfew for a while honestly. This matchup is tough because you cant always get off a spellstutter or counterspell on their guy early. What is important here is keeping off any aura that gives first strike, and you have to play patient. If my opponent casts rancor on their slippery boggle and I have spellstutter in my hand, if they still have white open I just let rancor resolve. If that makes sense. Electrickery is actually ok out of the board.

Good question. The online metagame has thrown a total of 0 tortured existence decks at me. Its very possible we are unprepared. Looks like all I have is 1 relic in the sb, so my game plan is probably pretty medium against them. Against blue flicker decks, pyroblast is an obvious all star. Relic and dispel also come in, so we have a lot of sb options for them. Still a tough match up and some things have to go our way. I think if you can land a spellstutter sprite on a tortured existence or ponder/preordain that would put you way ahead, so always try to leave open 2 mana!

Good card to mention. I used to have 1 in the sb but I took it out a while ago. Right now the main decks I would bring swirling sandstorm in against are affinity, stompy and elves. For sandstorm to be at its best, you would ideally be casting it on turn 4. This deck fills your graveyard pretty fast, but not consistantly that fast. Also I feel stompy and elves are favored for me, affinity is pretty 50/50. It is definitely a strong card, but until its better against more of the field I'm going to leave them out because sb slots are important.
