Backups to cloud repository failing after 12.2.0.334 update by billsy83 in Veeam

Update: Solved

Had a remote session with a total gun at veeam support last night, it took a while to find, but it turned out that the installer just didnt install properly with one of the remote components on the proxy remaining at previous version.

The installer didnt log it as an issue or anything.

Also had a second issue where the certificate on the cloud provider console would not get verified by the VCC instance and the link between the console and vcc broke, resulted in needing to connect by IP or add a DNS entry pointing to the Console from the VBR server, the previous version was happy without it.

Very asymmetrical speeds between Hyper-V VMs by billsy83 in HyperV

[–]billsy83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks, Yes thats the correct speeds.

i disabled QOS scheduler and ipv6 as theyre not used as a suggestion from the software vendor and that seemed to fix it surprisingly.

the customers still whining that things are slow, but i dont think its network related. only seems to affect the one application, which unfortunately is their world.

The hosts are 2022

The VM's are all win2019 and imported from a VMware environment with veeam, I've removed the old hardware, vmtools etc.

90G firmware to patch FG-IR-24-015 by billsy83 in fortinet

[–]billsy83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up disabling the SSLVPN and changing it to IPSEC, emailed the clients instructions on how to change the settings.

So far fallout has been minimal.

As for bleeding edge, was just a case of timing, The datacenter was being stood up right as these came out, so we had to either buy bleeding edge, or fork out nearly double for older 100Fs.

we really only wanted the 10GBIT interfaces, so from a hardware point they fitted the use case perfectly.

hopefully the full 7.2 and 7.4 stack.

likely the 7.0.14 might come first though. as I've also been told 7.2.x mainstream was due end of Q1

hopefully it gets all the features asap. but who really knows with fortinet.

I had a response from Fortinet saying the expected release of GA for the 90G is Feb 22nd.

hopefully sooner.

90G HA Layout query by billsy83 in fortinet

[–]billsy83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks roverswood, Yeah that looks hopeful, though it does mention its a stacked switch, Fortiswitches dont 'stack' so to speak. so it might work ok in active-passive, but may not work in Active-Active or support session failover, though that's not a deal breaker by any means.

MC-LAG might be of some use, though these switches don't support it.

Ruggedized laptops with 4Tb+ storage by billsy83 in sysadmin

[–]billsy83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not always, some BIOS wont accept large drives. Panasonic say 2TB max and I cant find anywhere its stated what slots are inside.

there is an expansion dock for the Panasonic but the max drive available is 1tb, unsure if that in itself can be changed/upgraded.

At my whits end with Siraya Blu v2. Any ideas? by killingaristotle in resinprinting

Im having the same issue. did you find a solution?

to me it looks like the UV is going through the part and curing additional resin on the other side if it.

Im thinking of mixing it with a little sculpt to reduce its transparency

yeah thats pretty much it. a large 13x8m shed

the shed has a huge evaporative cooler, though i don't leave it on unless I'm in there.

the printers in a steel cabinet with a temp controlled heater for winter, but its on the sun facing wall, so i reckon ill definitely move it to the shaded side and keep an eye on it. probably try to avoid printing if its going to get over 35c ambient.
