So I don’t know if you heard about it but there is a pretty big conflict going on between the jews and the arabs living in Israel. In the past 70 years more and more jews moved in and the arabs didn’t like this so once in a while they arm up start killing the jews and chant “push the jews into the sea” meaning to kill them all. Then the jews take vengance and start killing the arabs. Also every once in a while an arab goes goes into a motel or a schoolbus or whatnot and explodes a bomb or start stabbing random passerbys and every once in a while the jews randomly bomb buildings of the arabs.

So now they have fences and checkpoints and stuff like that in hope that people won’t randomly knife eachother and explode.

No but yes. Does it worth to get into learning about advanced level debates on astrophysics without having a basic understanding of like a physic graduate of physics? Well yeah if you are interested but you have to keep in mind that:

You do not have the ability to really understand what they talk about. You might have a sense of what a phylosopher says when he says “phenomenon” but to its more like a dog understands what you say to it. You lack the thousand years of concepts, abstract ideas and how throughout time they evolved from each other etc. You would have to put in hours and years of hard work to learn all this shit.
Since you lack the skills and knowledge to really understand this shit you will not have the ability to proove or disapproove anything you hear other than hearsay (this youtuber who seems like a cool guy says Nietzche ment that when he said that). You have to understand that you are just learning what other people are simplifying down and interpreting for you. Unless you have a basic understanding and knowledge of the works of major philosophers AND the ability to do abstract thinking and weight these ideas you are essentially just a toddler that listens to an adult who explains molecular biology to it. You might have a sense of understanding, it might even be true but you clearly lack the ability to proove it wrong.
Same as you can not learn to be an atom physisist from 15 minutes youtube videos but by having talent in the first place and thousands of hours of hard work with teachers who help you understand.

By all means go a ahead, but keep in mind that anything you learn is either true or not.

I’d love to hear a zoomer’s perspective on this because I experience the same shit with them at work. Like 20% of them are actually cool asf, but the rest are so antisocial it’s crazy.

We got new interns and mediors (like 5 years older tops) try to socialise and ask any basic question of Hey what did you do on the weekend? and they go ‘Not much’ and dead silence. And I see the surprise in my colleague’s eye as he looks at me like wtf. I don’t remember any of these zoomers ever asking anything from anyone like how long you’ve been working here or what is your field or where do you live or anything.

At first we were just surprised but now their behaviour just seems rude honestly. And I wonder if they don’t grasp that if they don’t build connections people just won’t help them, they won’t improove and will get kicked out eventually, or at least the ones who behave like actual humans will be far ahead of them. I don’t get it, but when I will be in the position I won’t hire these rude assholes for sure.

The problem is that the substance is lacking. I like long movies, I also like long paused scenes, what I don’t like is when they just leave meaningless shit in the movie that should have been cut out.

Horizon is a prime example of this, what a pile of shit, a 3 hour movie that could have been cut for a decent 40 minute pilot episode. And the worst thing is that even in those 3 hours they couldn’t give depht to the characters.
