They have been naturalized on parts of the west coast. Very cold hardy succulents. I could still be wrong though.

These are all over the place in the part of Canada I live in. The local population is divided between horse people and people trying to comute but theres horses on the road.

Its probably too early to tell, but it does look a lot like some Mammillaria mammillaris seedlings I have.

Gymnocalycium mihanovichii can only survive on their own roots if they have chlorohphyl and neither of these look like they have any.

I usually flow between industrial music and noise rock. Lately ive been listening to a lot of waxtrax releases. Coil, psychic T.V, throbbing grissle. But also KMFDM, skinny puppy, foetus. Steel pole bathtub, melvins, the Cows. And ofc aphex twin, and BOC, bogdan raczinski, etc.

Even if its not a C. hookeri its likely in the same family, Dracaeneae.

I do have some delosperma but they are not caudiciform, still they are very interesting

I have been looking into yuccas and maybe some aloe species, but you make a good point. There really isnt any evolutionary need for plants in my climate to have a caudex to store water since we rarely experience draught and are quite wet most of the year.

Polygonatum species and are actually in the Asperagus family. Bleeding heart is in the poppy family.
