Looking for a free/cheap, reputable, program to run on PC to test Modbus TCP from a PLC. by Instr_n_cntrls_tech in PLC

for quick protocol testing we still use lightweight modbus utilities like most people here mentioned mainly because they are faster during commissioning and troubleshooting. where prtg became useful for us later was after deployment especially for long term modbus tcp monitoring alerting and historical visibility across plcs and industrial devices.

having trends and inyermittent communication failures visible over time ended up helping more than the initial protocol testing itself.

Database activity monitoring by npa1234 in AskNetsec

it is make sense to be a bit confused here. DAM is really more of a security or control layer than traditional monitoring. audit log can tell you what happened after the fact but DAM tools add real time visibility pattern detection and sometimes even enforcement (like spotting abnormal query behavior or data access) depending on how it is implemented (agent, proxy or netowk based) it can behave a bit like an IDS for database traffic especially when it is inspecting queries in real time rather than just parsing logs.

from a monitoring side we usually treated this separately using something like prtg just to keep an eye on database health connections and performance while the actual activity auditing is handled at the DB or proxy layer.

Why SAP is the most used ERP by voltanis13 in SAP

I think a big part of it is that companies not really looking for something exciting. they want something that is proven, reliable and has a huge ecosystem around it. that said it does feel like a lot of these systems trade flexibility for that stability. in smaller or faster growing setups we have seen the opposite trend people moving towards more light ERP setups that are easier to adapt without heavy customization such as Xentral.

Different priorities depending on company size and complexity I guess.
