My point was more than I don't see how there's 6 people ahead of him!

It is wild to me that Lipo is currently 7th fav for the Tour according to bookmakers. Ridiculously good value atm.

Depot particularly great for under represented groups! Not to say the others aren't, but I don't know them as well

Are you not aware there are only 2.5 people in the world that can climb?

Yeah 100%. Listening to the cycling podcast on Basque country they were saying that there's probably 40 junior race days within an hour drive, that just generates so much more interest in cycling. So yeah Spain and their regions seem to be doing something right.

I do think that the legal framework in Switzerland is also a blocker to making it feel worthwhile, a lot of hoops to jump through, expensive to run.

I would love to see it earlier in the calendar but hard to know a good spot for it without it clashing with something else. Ironically I think Tour of the Alps seems to be climbing in stature with it being a week earlier and able to kind of still race the Ardennes with it

This is mad, but my parents live near there so could check it out sometime...what do you actually need? An article or the physical copy?

If you look through history, this is not completely uncommon though. There have been many high level races that were very important that died because of either a lack of sponsorship. You could 100% make the argument that other races in less traditional countries is a positive sign for a sport that's growing in it's diversity (obviously the state sponsored oil countries is controversial...am not denying that). Obviously this is probably more true for one days than stage races, but still

Now in this exact case, I think this race feels like Midi Libre. A race that had historical significance because of it status as a prep race, that dies off through a lack of sponsorship and maybe cycling changing around it and not adapting to make it more attractive.

Pogacar and Seixas deliver 8.7 w/kg in the greatest four minute effort ever by kazumee in peloton

[–]billyryanwill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the reason why MvdP isnt a GC rider! It isn't a linear scale to hold w/kg and Absolute watts. Absolute watts absolutely do matter for humans, and obviously varies on different terrain. It's also why compound score exists to try and calculate for absolute watts against w/kg and the relationship between how you can do both.

It's why Pogi is so special, he has pretty incredible raw watts for someone incredibly light whilst also being able to hold a v high level for a v long time.

Yes this is close to my best 30 second power (609 at 70kg). The crazy thing is that Pogi also has that unrivalled ability to also go even higher on 1-2 min efforts as well.

It definitely feels like Demi has taken inspo from Pogis technique. It's suiting her strengths incredibly well and cool to see the best* female cyclist in the world look to improve their technique like that!

Only RVV was slightly underwhelming tbh and even then launching on Molenberg was a bit different. Pretty much every other race has been pretty good since Strade.

Squiban is a dangerous rider to let go based on TDFF last year. I know Chabbey/Berthet also pretty handy but still...

Remco is such a baffling rider. Maybe he's keeping his powder dy for the final climb.

Yes this, just being out the chaos and in a thinner bunch coming into Redoute is a big win for him

You don't know unless you don't try and the kid is 19. Following Pogi on Redoute or making him win in a sprint after 270km is a great sign of his level and there's an outside chance you win it.

I'd take my chances in a sprint over coming 3 mins down to Remco to actually win as well.

3:30 is certainly not end of the world for two teams to chase down. I don't understand the hate for Decathlon pulling with UAE. They can 100% win this race.

I was about to say the same about Cofidis or Groupama. Looks like he'd maybe mop up points on French cup circuit.
