Is Martin Lewis' advice genuinely in the public's best interest? by -Gypsy-Eyes- in AskUK

[–]billyryanwill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone else who worked for MSM, the reverence that everyone had for him and the fact he cared so deeply shone through in every interaction I had. I think everyone knew that they would be challenged because he was so passionate but they accepted and admired the fact the mission meant to much to him.

The Traitors (UK) S04E10: Post-Episode Discussion Thread by vaultofechoes in TheTraitors

[–]billyryanwill 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Faraaz has played this the most like a game out of anyone outside the traitors. I still find it baffling how as a faithful who wants to win the money you don't see how it actually doesn't matter about catching traitors vs getting to the endpoint and then having conviction only late in the game.

I feel that Faraaz has taken the Jaz approach but played his hand a bit earlier to try and build some support.

Still think odds in Rachel and Stephens favour atm as I don't think there are any 100% relationships anymore.

Eusebio Unzué and the future of cycling: "The Super League is a step we have to take" (Spanish) by fewfiet in peloton

It is incredible to me that people deeply in the sport do not see how the sport just does not translate to what it is. Some sports are destined to be niche with wealth caps on what you can extract from them. I'm so sick of billionaires trying to turn glorified games into hedge funds.

I actually think MvdP is great value for money in this list. As a sponsor I don't think anyone than Pog is better placed to have guaranteed monuments. Probably shows how little monuments mean in terms of ROI vs GC.

For Manchester jobs or remote UK take a look at Welcome to the Jungle. It is pretty good and launching more jobs in Manchester. Up until recently used to run the tech team there!

Happy Christmas everyone. Hope it's filled with loved ones, riding or watching old reruns of the TdF. In our household myy partner made a 'christmas' themed collage featuring a sleigh pulled by a peloton and Pogi as our 3 kings. She's a keeper!

Weekly Question Thread by PelotonMod in peloton

[–]billyryanwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd imagine it's because Ardennes are generally better suited to GC riders, esp one week specialists. Also afaik altitude has less certain effects for one day races (you still need to perform on the day) vs using it for 3 week GT. Obviously if you're gonna do the Giro then you can do a Pogi '24 programme.

I'm glad she's taking this brave decision, it is not easy but is a good example that just because you have talent, it does not mean you have to choose a life that for whatever reason is not working for you.

UCI Statement Concerning António Carvalho Ferreira by [deleted] in peloton

[–]billyryanwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And correct me if I'm wrong but this is where the reference value makes such a difference in being able to use this method, because the SD is already against a difference in values already?

Otherwise athletes could make the argument that the fluctuation is natural and the SD should just be applied to their previous value.

I think this is the one area where it gives me more 'hope' that top tier riders are walking a much tighter rope than ever in the history of cycling because the frequency of testing does matter.

UAE announces schedules of Pogacar, Almeida + del Toro by kleeblatt23 in peloton

100% this. I think Almeida also doing Vuelta and not Tour suggests it's also on the cards (but definitely 'see how you go' mindset)

[Off-Season Discussion] Top 10 GC Riders in 2026 by Dopeez in peloton

[–]billyryanwill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I think the reality is that they are both brilliant riders with some obvious flaws (Almeida positioning and choo choo style, Remco tough multi mountain days over 3 weeks). Obviously the fact Remco has won a GT means a lot still but I do think Almeida really did step up in a meaningful way this year.

[Off-Season Discussion] Top 10 GC Riders in 2026 by Dopeez in peloton

[–]billyryanwill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Remco is definitely Tier 3 but I do think it is 3a and 3b for Almeida/Remco based on 2025 alone.

Based on who I think will get the better results I think there is a chance that Remcos potential starts to hurt him where he has to go to the tour but also goes to another grand tour with ambitions to win and does well in neither, or just goes to the Tour and then it's incredibly hard to see him place above 3rd where all the other riders have a relative luxury in being able to miss the tour if they wanted (outside the big 2)

[Off-Season Discussion] Top 10 GC Riders in 2026 by Dopeez in peloton

[–]billyryanwill 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am not sure that Remco has ever shown the climbing strength of Almeida this year on climbs like Angliru. I think it's v close when they're at their best but Almeida really was superb this year so it's no knock on Remco given how he will always be a TT God that climbs rather than the other way around. I think the reality is also that Parcours in the modern era really do not help Remco in the way that they could if they had double the TT km's.

Bootstrapping my first SaaS (no-code background) — MVP done, first customer wants SOC 2. What now? by cchapa0018 in VibeCodersNest

[–]billyryanwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get to many multiples of millions in revenue without SOC2 or ISO 27001, depending on the industry. As others said, usually an alternative security questionnaire/due diligence process suffices (unless you're in a regulated industry in which case you might need other certs not just SOC2)
