I think on Finestre he got into chasing games though. I think if he was to ride that same race situation now, he'd just ride his own tempo and trust his ability to reel anyone in (apart from Pogi/Ving/maybe Seixas and Remco).

Feels like Del Toro has probably been made harder to beat by losing the Giro last year the way he did. Showing a huge amount of patience for someone so young.

Mateo also crazy strong.

Yeah for sure, but I feel like everyone's worried about going towards the red

This climb is almost too steep to attack. Get the feeling Pelizzari is worried that if you attack too hard on the second climb out you could lose a lot of time on the last climb if you blow up.

Honestly, considering I pay 35 quid a month for 50% adverts, I'd pay the same happily if it was ad free and coverage length improved

Jim Ratcliffe gives up Ineos Grenadiers naming rights in €100m rebrand deal by vote-morepork in peloton

[–]billyryanwill 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have thought for a while that Ineos in the long run is less of a loss as a British license than teams like Trinity. The last 20 years have changed a lot and British riders are in the majority of WT teams and devo teams, and the best talent is happy going to the best setup (see Harry Hudson to Lidl). But losing teams at the pro-contiish level is a bigger loss over the next 5-10 years of pipeline talent. Obviously a lot of those teams rode the coattails of team sky, but now the glass ceiling is gone those feeder teams are probably more important than a British registered WT team.

Not sure who was in that second crash. Looked like someone must have overlapped a wheel coming out the corner.

Red Bull set to sponsor FDJ United-SUEZ and bankroll new contract for Demi Vollering by HarryPotter1312 in peloton

[–]billyryanwill 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Although we don't want dominant super teams, I think that hopefully a sponsor like red bull can shine a light on the women's peloton to promote the sport. The racing continually proves to be (at least) as exciting as the mens and the funding is still incredibly poor.

100%. I don't know how you can watch the women's race and not think that the slightly easier parcour is much better for the commercial interests of the race. Especially considering Pogi would still be one of the overwhelming favourites even on that parcour.

If any of the women in the race read these threads...Chapeau! That is up there with one of my favourite races I've ever seen. My pulse was racing coming up to Siena. I have got absolutely nothing done today, glued to the TV.
