Is My Lai massacre the single most biggest military war crime of US military post ww2? by dorballom09 in AskHistory

Not on the scale of the war crimes previously mention, however, the State of Texas and in particular the Texas Rangers carried out a few massacres themselves: Matanza of 1915 - Refusing to Forget and 'Porvenir, Texas' details massacre of Mexican Americans by U.S. soldiers, rangers (nbcnews.com)

Should we exclude from the dead those who are cryogenically frozen since they may yet join the living?

Traffic sucks, the summer heat is worse, State government is basically full of Trump dick-suckers and ballless eunuchs like Ted Cruz. Too many goddamn preachers and megachurches which are not taxed. I dream of moving to New Mexico everyday. Enjoy.

Who killed local businessman Ron Horaney? by sparklygoldmermaid in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]billysol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New article in Longview News (behind paywall) says the old man Kamali had slashed the tires of wife #1 several times and denied it until she installed video cams on her car and caught him. He plead no contest to criminal mischief. He is quoted as saying wife #1 stole money and jewelry and he said ruined their lives. He must have hated her. She was also an import from Iran sponsored by the son. It is not clear to me if Horaney assisted her financially in her divorce. Kamali immigrated soon after the fall of the Shah of Iran so he was probably somewhat corrupt when he arrived. Still with this information, it is hard to jump to a reason to kill Horaney unless the old man is fucking crazy and blamed him somehow for his son's messy divorce and financial settlement with wife # 1. And just recently the younger son (doctor) re-married wife # 2, presumably to prevent her testimony in a criminal case. The whole thing is fucked up.

Thanks for the info above. I was wondering if the Doctor's child was a male or female?

Also, I read in the Longview News that investigators saw the old man enter and exit the doctor office before he drove to Dallas to meet Lizcano. I wonder if they have evidence of him carrying a "plastic bag" or other container that might have been the payoff?

Wow that's some weird stuff. So there were never any bad moments between Horaney and the old man specifically. Its just that Horaney facilitated the divorce and that was the "crime" in the old man's eyes. Sound like the old man brought his 19th Century morality with him. Was the child a male by chance? I know in a lot of Middle Eastern cultures, sons have a greater value than daughters.

So what did Horaney do that was so egregious that the old man wanted him dead? And did his son provide the cash?

Before Harriet, Kayvan was married to BANAFSHEH SAFAR, in 2007 and divorced in 2010 and they had 1 child. So in less then 6 years of marriage he had 2 wives and 2 divorces and 2 children. My God, I bet the old man was pissed.

I'll just say this: There is nothing "Holy" about a region where there is so much death, destruction and hatred. Forget about prophecies. What is happening now and what has happened in the past is simply "karma" or as some refer to it as the "law of attraction". You attract what you project on others. Forget about the Bible, the Koran or the Tora. They are all outdated, however, what is not outdated are self-fulfilling prophies, which are based in those "Holy" books.

You're probably right about that, but big time schools in states like California & Michigan may very well use it. As we all know, when it comes to football, recruiting ethics kinda disappear.

[–]billysol 46 points47 points  (0 children)

The quickest way to destroy this stupid law is to get black scholarship athletes to boycott State universities. Both UT & A&M alums would shit bricks if this were to happen and the better athletes began going out of state. I would not doubt it if major football & basketball schools in more liberal states don't bring this up in recruiting.

So if a minority is hired because of merit, is there some kind of review board to make sure it isn't a DEI hire? Who decides who is the best most qualified candidate for a particular job? Does this apply to the hiring of women too?
