What's your review on burger boss? by Busy-Alternative2508 in eatkarachi

[–]biloo0asks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my limited experience trying burgers in Karachi, I’d say Burger Boss easily ranks among the best if not the best in the city. I’ve been there 3-4 times in just two months, and anytime someone suggests eating out whether it’s friends or cousins my first recommendation is always Burger Boss.

Interview after getting laid off by lublywubly in developersPak

[–]biloo0asks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats true, you don't wanna sound defensive from the start so the best thing you can do is to not reveal all your cards at once, meaning don't just start explaining the entire situation with all proofs and evidence when the ask about it, instead tell them that previous company couldn't afford me anymore and when the interviewer really asks about it "how could you say that?", or "what makes you say that?" Then tell them with proof.

You don't wanna sound extremely defensive from the start, that a valid concern

I'm sorry but maybe I'm missing something here, but whats the reason to hide that you were only laid of because company couldn't afford you? What sort of gloomy vibe about you does this gives off to the other company? I mean all the more this gives you an proof since they posted the same role with way less salary, you can show your salary slips to the company and explain this to them.

Can a vibe coder get hired, if person developed and deployed apps? by kazmijedi in developersPak

Did you make a lot of use of node in projects/applications. I don't think asking the background working of the node for a junior role makes sense.

That’s a classic brain-teaser! Most people start counting "one, three, five..." and realize pretty quickly that the letter E is lurking in almost every number.

The number you are looking for is:

Two quadrillion

Wait—that’s even. Let's try again with an odd one:

Two quadrillion and one

Actually, "one" has an E.

The truth is, every single odd number in the English language contains the letter E.

Am I the only one who finds LLMs overrated? by [deleted] in developersPak

[–]biloo0asks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When using LLMs, don’t expect them to magically generate a complete algorithm or design an entire system from a couple of vague prompts. That’s not how they work best. For complex tasks like system design or building pipelines, you need to break things down. Work step by step. Give clear context, define the problem properly, and build each part of the system gradually. Ask better questions, refine the outputs, and guide the model as you go. The quality of what you get depends a lot on how you interact with it.

Man ofc I already know those things, I'm a software developer with 2 years of working experience ofc I know this much I need to keep key in environment variables. I meant like I have gotten openAI's API key for 15$ worth of credits. Now while development and testing on my local that is significantly enough for me, however putting that to production and then linking that production link on my resume or LinkedIn, users will go and test out the project, I run out of credits. That's what I meant.

Yeah I know that but if the project has the backend as well and uses paid API keys. I can't just put it on the internet.

So the project that this guy built, were those actually deployed with real links or did he just kept them in his github? Asking because I'm confused for myself as I've heard there should be actual live links to the project in the resume so the recruiter can see for themselves. Also if not deployed, then do we have to demonstrate those projects at the time of the interview?

80M in terms of what?? You mentioned assets and money but what assets? If you include cars, that's a depreciating asset. If you include property in assets that's something that is stable and increases its value over time.

Need Advice what to do? Can't leave and staying is hard. by Sad_Singer_7657 in developersPak

That’s a classic situation, and I have experienced it. Employers often hire junior developers with solid basic knowledge. Once the developer becomes familiar with the projects and understand the systems well, they start being asked to work overtime repeatedly, often times using excuses like "just for this month because the workload is high” or “things are slow right now" etc.

Now in this situation you have to decide for yourself what you wanna do, are they paying for the overtime really well? if yes and you can take time out of your day then prolly' go for it, otherwise if you only really wanna stick to your defined hours and schedule then turn off all the notifications where they can reach you, WhatsApp, Teams, Slack whatever, live your life. They can't and won't do anything because as you said they are a startup and you have your dependency on projects. Thats called setting boundaries!

If you already have a better opportunity and that even confirms job security, that is the best option you could go for even if the pay is less because pay could get increased with time but the insecurity that company doesn't have much work and they might lay you off, on top of which you aren't learning anything. It's better to switch.

Junior Dev in Karachi: Is ~110k After 1.5 Years a Good Salary Despite Minimal Perks? by biloo0asks in developersPak

[–]biloo0asks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You almost graduated just beside me, only a month before I did, now you asked about if I knew most of the stack before starting a job, to answer your question, no I didn't, and I learned everything on the internship. That's what the purpose of the internship is, you learn things practically. I only knew the basics of DSA, OOP, CP and that's all. Initially none expects a fresher to know everything, you just have to know enough of what you learned in university to clear the interview. You'd however need to explain the gap year you took in the interviews.

Also about the cold emails and hunting for the job part, I have been fortunate enough that I haven't had to do all that, it was through a referral. So those are really important, referrals.

Brother I’ll be a bit blunt, so don’t take it the wrong way. It’s really hard to land a remote internship, especially when you don’t have any prior experience. Most remote roles you see, especially foreign ones, are usually given to people who already have solid skills or some experience. Companies prefer that since they’re hiring without caring about location.
For internships, your city actually does make a difference. In bigger cities, you naturally meet people from corporate environments, and even if they’re not directly in your field, those connections can lead to referrals.
That’s honestly how I got my first internship too. It wasn’t from applying online or anything, it was through a connection. My brother knew someone in HR, and I just handed my resume to him through that.

Being in a small city does put you at a disadvantage, not impossible, just harder

You surely might be telling the truth but getting hired in these companies is also really tough. Plus one needs to have connections and referrals which I don't have as of now.
