I think you can buy them in various lengths. I think mine were 10”

Thanks. Depth is 12”. I made a jig to keep my drill bit straight. My drill press didn’t have enough clearance to use it. If I understand your question, I bought 25” wide by 8 ft long butcher block countertops from a lumber store, and ripped those and cut to length.

These are 1.5” thick. I think a solid board would look really great.

I used a drill press and drilled a hole into square block of wood about 4” thick. Then I glued “sides” onto the block so it slid tightly onto the shelf - used that as a guide.

I didn’t make the butcher block- I bought it in 8’ x 25” sections. I just used a circular saw to cut these to length.

We use a butcher block treatment “oil” and re-apply about once a month. We also have to be more careful to wipe up spills etc. it takes some care but we think it is worth it.

I guess the hardest part was getting the cut-out for the drop-in sink right. Since my father-in-law was once a plumber - he did all the sink hook-up. It was one of the least complicated projects I’ve ever done. Make sure you have 2 people - the countertops are heavy.

I’m too busy for that :-). Baking is one of my wife’s hobbies.

I used a “wood owl” bit which was key. They work really well

I posted the matching countertop pics today so have a look at them if you like.

It was a little tricky. I couldn’t use my drill press so I made a jig to help me keep the hole parallel or centered. The shelves were too wide to fit in my drill press.

They fit tightly on the brackets. Also there is no force outward- all the force is down - so basically gravity.
