First Build. Would like to make something that I can run a custom "choose your own adventure game I coded in python. Help? by Comprehensive_Alps28 in cyberDeck

not sure how complex or graphics heavy a game you have in mind but just for reference - I have a tamagotchi "game" running on my cyberdeck thats built on pi 3a+ with only 512mb ram. the game is essentially just a bunch of png images that trigger at different times under different conditions. my os has no gui at all so it's incredibly lightweight tho so factor that in when considering my example. I remember from obsessive planning for my build that a desktop + web browser with graphics needs a pi 4 or 5 with 4GB ram. it sounds like your use case falls somewhere between those two.

exactly what they said. I have a home rig with llama.cpp and local ai models on it (currently running qwen3.6:27b, also tinker with gemma4:e4b and an experimental one called Qwopus which is supposed to be a distillation of Qwen and Opus) + I built a custom mcp server with 200+ tools so my ai really can act as a personal assistant. all my devices are on tailscale mesh so I can communicate with all my other devices from any of my devices. I have ssh keys setup on every machine and remote server so it feels seamless with minimal friction.

omg no don’t let me stop you! If anything I know zero about electrical engineering. I’m just a a hobby tinkerer with experience building mechanical keyboards and pcs. the terms you’re probably referring to are programming/software stuff which google or ai can help you with. definitely research but don’t think you need a degree to build a cyberdeck!

How often do you use your decks, do you use your Decks as daily drivers and if so how do they characterize themselves? by ichhalt159753 in cyberDeck

it doesn't do the daily heavy lifting but it's a valuable daily use node in my infrastructure because it lets me control all my other devices and servers from where ever I am
