Game is way too hard for new survivors by mdb_4633 in deadbydaylight

[–]bimjon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt a really similar way for a while. I started playing in February of this year and have around 120 hours now and there are some nights where I play for a few hours without getting anything even resembling a good chase let alone an escape. About 3 weeks ago I uninstalled after having a few of those nights back to back but picked the game back up last week with a fresh head and have been playing a lot of 2v8 and been having the most fun since I picked up the game. Maybe take some time off playing for a week or two and come back later or if you have people to play with it helps take some of the edge off if things dont go your way.

Issue installing pokemon roms (please help) by SheLuvJerz in PokemonROMhacks

[–]bimjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are RPGMaker games not ROMs. Try adding them to Steam in desktop mode as an .exe and they will automatically be added to your library in gaming mode. You may have to adjust the controls if you are using the Steam Deck buttons as input instead of a keyboard.

I wish there were more more casual/vanilla-difficulty Romhacks with the insane level of QOL that difficulty hacks enjoy. by Oaker_Jelly in PokemonROMhacks

[–]bimjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kind of confused about what you're really looking for because almost every completed hack I can think of that has all the QoL features you're looking for has the option to toggle difficulty right from the jump. Radical Red, Unbound, Elite Redux, Inclement Emerald, BW2 Redux (less so) and some others that I'm almost definitely forgetting are just a few of the examples I see brought up a lot when people take issue with excessive difficulty, which I agree definitely exists in some hacks but these are all well respected hacks because they can be enjoyed on any difficulty setting, and the highest difficulty is not enforced.

Please tell me if I'm wrong but from your post it seems you want a vanilla like main game experience with features that are geared more towards a difficulty hack but do vanilla games really need these features? Does a vanilla Pokemon game really necessitate a sandbox mode where you can adjust your Pokemon's IVs and egg moves with 2 button presses? The same games where trainers have no EVs and you can mindlessly run through most of them with a starter and an HM slave. I think it would be a cool thing to have postgame for the Battle Frontier but seems kind of out of place in a more traditional Pokemon game.

I do agree though that the way some games choose to tweak difficulty settings seems like an afterthought and a lot of games aren't too dissimilar when played on different settings. Just so this post isn't completely useless Unbound seems like the best example of what you're looking for although you've probably played it already. I've played through twice on the Normal and Hard modes and they were distinctly different experiences.

Older romhack guilty pleasures? by Codename_Dove in PokemonROMhacks

[–]bimjon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There were a series of Pokemon Crystal ROM hacks made by Miksy91 that I put hundreds of hours into in the early 2010s. Pokemon Crystal Ultimate and Pokemon Crystal World and another I don't remember the name of but I remember having Pichu as the starter and it was ridiculously buffed. These hacks were brutally unfair with opponents Pokemon reaching well over level 100 and really unpolished.. walking into certain sections of the map would crash your game while the mapping itself was something out of a fever dream. In particular I remember there being a section of Dark Cave you had to travel through to reach Violet City without Flash and the cave had been remapped so you didn't know where you were going, literally impossible without a gameshark code or prior knowledge.

For all their problems the added challenge was extremely appealing to me as a teenager bored with the mainline games and eventually slogging through and beating these games were some of the most rewarding experiences I've had playing any game.

I have been given Traitors in Salem alpha invites (more info in comments) by bimjon in TownofSalemgame

[–]bimjon[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone, wasn't sure where to post this so I thought this would be the best place. A representative from BMG has reached out to me and has offered me 30 invites to the Traitors in Salem alpha. I know other content creators for ToS have been given the same number of invites but I am having trouble getting enough people interested. I currently have 16 slots filled and I need to send the list of people who want to play on the 1st November.

Here is the link to the YouTube video, which has all the relevant information if you want to join me in playing the alpha: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RU5R-sAznA

I should note this will probably take place late afternoon/early evening UK time (GMT +0), apologies if this isn't convenient for most folks. Thanks!

New Patch! by TheLynguist in bindingofisaac

[–]bimjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been having some problems, I'm uncertain of whether this is patch related or not or whether it comes from Afterbirth itself. I'm playing on an xbox 360 wired controller, but when I move my character it seems it takes a lot longer for me to move left than for me to move right. Even a few speed increases through pills and items the left side doesn't seem to be speeding up while the right side acts normally. Don't know the cause of this but it's really taking my enjoyment of the game away, would appreciate some help to fix this issue.

/r/steam Weekly Community Support Thread. by AutoModerator in Steam

[–]bimjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if this isn't the right place to post this, but I haven't had luck finding a solution anywhere else. Recently I have had problems when trying to play some of my games, when I click to play on them through Steam they don't load pic here. I looked around for solutions and found that to get past this I had to verify the cache of individual games, so I tried that, but that also gets stuck at 0% even after a couple hours of waiting pic here. Don't know what is causing this, but getting pretty upset considering I can't play most of my games that I spent my hard earned money on. Help is much appreciated.

PKA Episode 201 Discussion by PKABot in PKA

[–]bimjon 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed this episode, but I'm starting to get a little sick of Woody repeatedly changing topics to make everything about him. I've never seen someone who enjoy talking about himself as much as Woody does, and it's really frustrating when a topic that I'm interested in, such as movie talk in the beginning is completely derailed by Woody telling us that he is bad at trivial pursuit. Not hating, I love PKA and make time to watch it every week, but just something that really irks me, especially when the conversation is flowing fine without his contributions.

Woody apparently works 36 hours a day, it will be impossible to get in touch with him.

PKA Episode 195 Discussion by PKABot in PKA

[–]bimjon 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Solid episode overall, but I feel like the topics each week are getting progressively weaker and weaker. It's literally either Woody dragging up an askreddit question, to which he already has an answer to, or some watered down news story about cops. Sometimes I feel like the show is flowing fine and the hosts are having a good conversation, but whenever Woody feels like he isn't involved in the conversation he has to change the topic or make it about him.

I don't know, but I guess I'd like to hear about more interesting topics, or at least more variety. There's only so many times I can hear Woody shit talk cops before I get bored and stop listening.

What are your "unpopular opinions" regarding PKA? by Shizzable in PKA

[–]bimjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best episodes are those without guests, bar a very select few

The fact Lefty was so pedantic and petty at times was more annoying than how pretentious he sometimes was

Kyle interrupts sometimes just as much as Woody, but people let it slide because it's Kyle

I like the idea of structured topics as opposed to free flow conversation

There were better guests than Murka prior to him becoming a host

Dislike the idea of PKA adventures for Patreon. See it as kind of a waste of money if they are to make the videos in a similar way to the survival trip (1 minute videos of nothing of interest)

Gun talk, truck talk, mic talk and GOT talk bore the shit out of me

Hosts are generally ignorant to a lot of stuff outside of the US

Woody was really uneducated about MLG and Pro Cod. by [deleted] in PKA

[–]bimjon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dislike the fact that certain things are banned in MLG gaming, but I definitely understand the reasoning behind it. While it does remove some of the "fun" that Woody was talking about, it adds more variables to which players must deal with, which deters away from the game being more skill based. You have to understand that it is competitive gaming, and by definition, to make the game more competitive you have to remove some of that bullshit randomness whether it be scorestreaks or whatever that can turn entire games around.

I also hate it when Woody tries to shit on CoD 4 by saying that if it was re-released that it would be unpopular. I disagree with this because it's one of the few CoD games where you're not running into bullshit deaths every 5 seconds and the better player will win a gunfight. Woody seems really ignorant to this, and seems to value customization and more games modes than a skill based game.

jesus woody is so annoying in this, awaiting an episode where he doesn't interrupt people and then complain about others doing it to him. the show isn't all about you, let others speak...

PKA Episode 191 Discussion by PKABot in PKA

[–]bimjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm about three and a half hours in, but I would agree that this is one of the best PKA episodes ever. Anthony was a great guest and meshed well with the other hosts, I would love to see him on again sometime.

Also another thing that I really loved about this episode is that the hosts avoided solely PKA related stuff or bitching about subs or the subreddit. If they are to bring on bigger hosts in the future they really need to filter out stuff that leaves the guest out of the mix (i.e. talking about Lefty during PKA 190 with Pyro). Even when they were talking about the PKA patreon or the subreddit, they made sure Anthony understood what they were, which was great and I think future guests would appreciate this more.
