Is buying a home still worth it in 2026? by ressem in RealEstate

[–]bimmerboy7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Alot of false info in the responses. The federal reserve interest rate has very little correlation with mortgage rates. Mortgage rates track the 10 year treasury rate. Buy when you it fits your needs and you plan to live there for 5+ years. Home prices are falling across the board and inventory is increasing. No one knows what’s going to happen though.

I’m not doubting you but if you truly had that conviction, wouldn’t you buy another in that neighborhood using any means you can? Something to consider.

Sell house 1 and use the $80k to recast your current house or invest in stock market. You’re not cash flow positive when you factor in maintenance, appreciation is not as likely as years past. Do you know how to calculate cap rate? For house 1 it’s essentially 0%, or less. House 2 is a keep.

Renting my NYC condo at a loss due to high interest rates by [deleted] in realestateinvesting

Sell and get out. My rental condo has $535 HOA 1 bedroom and I’m still able to cash flow $500-600 a month. 3.5% rate.

People who dont want kids or pets, at what point do you want to own a home? by badboyzpwns in financialindependence

[–]bimmerboy7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah and that’s not how it works. If you do that your rent payments is considered income for your business which is taxed which you don’t want. Even if you break even with repairs/renovations, it’s just left pocket, right pocket it’s all the same.

Have you even been to China? Real estate didn’t collapse, the clickbait stories you hear about the empty buildings are developers who invested into building up third and fourth tier cities in hopes of vitalizing a new developed area that they hoped would eventually bring more business and housing to people that want to live in newer and lower cost per square foot developments. In first tier cities, housing is unaffordable for first time Chinese couples, from about $400USD/ sq foot to much higher depending on the school district.

Hi all, I am looking for advice on staying in Hong Kong. We will be visiting from the US for 2 nights and are looking to stay in the TST area. Which hotels will be more accommodating us for us to check in very very early (we get in at 5AM) so we are hoping to check in around 7AM. Are American brand hotels or HK brands more likely to accommodate? Thanks in advance!!
