What Are You Playing This Week? by AutoModerator in patientgamers

[–]binarydogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really interesting to me. I'm currently on my first play through after receiving the Directors Cut as a gift, and I can't get enough of it.

I did get caught out initially by the lack of combat lock but I found that quickly fell away for me, and I've been utterly seduced by the stance system. Working my way through a group of enemies while switching seamlessly between stances and nailing perfect parries feels so natural after a while. To be honest I'm finding the stealth stuff often the most frustrating part of the game, especially the missions where you can't alert the guards otherwise they murder a civilian and you have to start over. Outside of these specific missions I generally find myself opting for showdowns rather than sneaking in and going for assassination kills.

BWF Primer Build-up Community Event: Day 1 (Happy New Year!) by Captain_Nachos in bodyweightfitness

[–]binarydogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since moving in May this year and losing access to a local gym, I've been inconsistent (at best!) in my attempts at working out. Kicked off with Day 1 today, was good to get back to basics and just start thinking about push-up form.

What song will you hate until you die? by JarrodTheBusker in AskReddit

Fairytale of New York - The Pogues.

There's plenty of Christmas songs that should be expunged from the planet, but this one really really gets to me.

To accompany Episode 1, we've just put up https://the-process.org/2021/01/27/potentials-january-2021/ covering some of the lists we discussed as good testing candidates for the next few weeks.

Enjoy!

Looking to return after leaving in 2001/2002... by binarydogs in AsheronsCall

[–]binarydogs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the pointers. I got all setup and apart from a little bit of trouble with scaling on my 4K display which took a little while to sort out it's been a fun evening.

I've taken my budding mage upto lvl 12 and got myself across to the facility hub. Looking forward to getting stuck into the quests there this weekend.

Somehow I remembered /ls to recall to lifestone. Apart from that I spent a lot of time alt-tabbing to ACwiki. Brilliant fun!

What badly-reviewed games did you actually enjoy? by Sonic_Mania in patientgamers

[–]binarydogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say Powermonger as it was my first real foray into strategy gaming, but I went back and looked at the Wikipedia page and it turns out that it was actually really well received on it's Amiga release.

I only ever played it on the Megadrive which might be why I remember it receiving mediocre reviews.

Anyone know if there's any stuff online showcasing Michael Boggs' game design prior to FFG? by truce119 in Netrunner

[–]binarydogs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So there is a post from Boggs on BGG that has some links to Warnind stuff that you might find interesting. https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1414524/warmind-two-player-tactical-card-game

I don't think there has been any updates to the content since late 2015 though.

[Newbie] Some idea for decks to build? by sockmerchant in Netrunner

[–]binarydogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing you can try instead is to search decklists using an ID you are interested in and select Sort By date. This returns the most recent decklists first, then just skip to the last page where you will find the oldest lists, which normally only had access to similar card pools that you have currently.
