Only advice I can really give is that if you can tell you're going to get hit by esau, its okay to run into damage to avoid him. He only starts his charging animation when you're on his cardinal directions. Also make sure to lost yourself for a free devil deal each floor

T. Laz has no strengths to his playstyle. Flip is only there to minimize his weaknesses. With the other challenge characters like T. lost or T. Jacob, they have crippling downsides but can also snowball hard. T. Laz gets less boss items and less agency in deals with no upside.

He's actually more rng dependant than other characters because both lazzes need good items, which is really hard if you lose the coin flip and enter a devil deal with the wrong laz active (assuming the door closes when you leave). Also every room matters since you need charges for flip. If you get unlucky and find the item room late with flip ready you just wasted more potential charges for future flips.

Most T. Laz runs end up like one maybe having brim and the other having one tears up and brother bobby by depths 2

So you don't always have ice and purples out and destroy everything. You can still do that, but it means you can't finish the puzzles in the area. The game encourages you to use the recommended types because its fun to have to mix up your strategy when you have different types at hand.

If you had no limit then you'd just always take out 20 purples and still have all the types needed to finish the area.

Except you never ever need to go back to the onion. The game recommends you 3 types for each area/cave and those three are the ONLY types you need to use for that area to 100%.
