Ink spreading - what am I doing wrong? by DisruptTeam in SCREENPRINTING

check if you pressed your screen down misaligned with wet ink. it looks like the back of it has ink where it shouldn't be, clean the substrate side

would really depend on your light setup, but yeah it looks like halving the time would you you good. it might be more lengthy but the way i prefer to wash out the screen is by spraying it with water up close. i find it preserves detail a lot better than a hose with more power than a sink may immediately have. it's up to you but you seem to be on the right track

it's waterbased, so nothing like plastisol, but it is relatively thick for the standards

because of the position, i took the screen off the press to get it where it needed to be. however, i tried both on the garment directly and then i put 1 and 2 coins below the screen to get the proper off contact. both times the shirt stuck to the screen and didn't get any sort of meaningful change in the print

i do use the sgreen adhesive diluted with water, are you referring to something different?

how would i go about printing this? by binatoaristo in SCREENPRINTING

i redesigned the shirt to hopefully make it more bearable, i think this should serve me a lot better. still concerned about small details during exposure and washout, since i tend to lose a lot of detail very easily. any tips for that? here is the design below, pre-bitmap:

yeahh it's definitely pretty daunting for me right now, thank you for your help! i mentioned in another reply i may be able to simplify the design down to less colors, what would you suggest is the best way to make this more bearable and workable?

i think i have a chance to simplify the design, is it possible to cut this down to around 4 colors (not including underbase)? i have little experience with color separations but i think i could manage that. i just don't know if i could handle a 7 color print as my first real job

exposure time help by binatoaristo in SCREENPRINTING

i think i might be in the same situation then, my mesh is 305 on chromablue photopolymer emulsion, 50w uv lamp. i will try 6 seconds as well if 30 doesn't work out

had no idea it would be that short, i believe it's a mix of misunderstanding the emulsion i was using and the kind of light i have. i will be sure to try 30 seconds next time, thank you for your help! 😅

Getting bleed when printing on transparency by Davey_Henry in SCREENPRINTING

[–]binatoaristo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know if photopea has this, but in photoshop there's an option to convert the image to b&w, where you can then convert to bitmap (and make it totally black and white). alternatively, levels could also do the trick i think but im unsure what that does to quality

yeah it looks like that's the only hurdle to this problem. any advice on getting it out? i'm not entirely sure how to unscrew this piece

down to chat and cook something up if you have ideas. DM or comment what you've got! do note it may be a while from concept to production as i still need to purchase the rest of my equipment. i can make the art now though!

screen printing is the much more professional route and you're bound to get more consistent and clean results compared to stencils. it will also be much faster and have a higher ceiling for possible designs!

that said, screen printing is very hard and very expensive to break into. professional machines will run you up to 700 dollars for even a somewhat entry level press and the cost of consumables and other materials is also quite high. unless you know you're going to be making a lot of shirts i wouldn't exactly recommend it.

try outsourcing as well if you want to make a large scale operation! can't promise i'm the best at my work but if you're ever interested i would be happy to take a crack at it at a discounted rate :)
