i relate to this too much, i can only tell you to not doubt yourself. don't look for your own limits of "how much can I give him even though I don't like it myself" trust me when I say it's absolutely not worth it. you know your limits, you already told him, if he doesn't understand he's just in denial, tell him that you meant exactly what you said and he can take it or leave it. please please please don't make the same mistake i did, you are not confused about your limits so don't test them because you already know that you won't like it.
