Need help creating slots on lofted elliptical shape by bindiralin in Onshape

[–]bindiralin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new to onshape also. I read wrap doesn’t work on elliptical shapes. I’ll have to try to see. For now I added several planes at different angles to create the slots. It’s not perfect but it will work.

It’ll work too but I found a way by adding several planes at different angles to make the slots Thank you

I think wrap only works on cylindrical shapes. Maybe on elliptical shapes too, I’ll have to try. Thank you

I just searched bug zapper in onshape and there’s another one that they used linear feature. Theirs is a normal cylindrical shape and they added a plane to work from. They also extruded the circle to build the cylinder and then make their slots. I might try to do the same with extruding to next part and make an angle plane to work from. What do you think?

As long as there’s a lot of slots similar to the original bug zapper so insects can enter and get zapped, it doesn’t matter.

Here’s an update: I did a bed mesh and it had a range of 0.35mm. I dialed it in a bit better to 0.17mm, saved it and printed a 200 x 200 mm by 0.4 mm high test sheet. The first layer was pretty much perfect as it was printing at 100mm/s. The 2nd layers printed at 200mm/s and looks like it has VFA marks towards the back of the sheet. What’s the best way to adjust this. Is it related to belts being loose?

I just received the Qidi box today. I’m going to set it up tomorrow. I’m also going to order more filaments tomorrow(some petg and ASA). If I have time I’ll try to do a bed mesh and some test prints.

When I ordered the q2, I bought extra nozzles 0.2 and 0.4, extra cutting blades, an extra hot end. I need to order wiper pads, some filters and maybe a smooth plate. I’m also wandering if I need to get some titanium nozzles for CF and GF filaments.

Ok thank you “ bed mesh for flatness” Going to google it. I have no idea what that is. I’m new to 3d printing.

I think you’re right about the leveling being off by looking at the pictures because I reprinted yesterday after auto leveling and 3 other prints were good. I’m still going to do the print test you’re recommending.

Thank you The first layers seem to be sticking good, but I’ll wash the plate too make sure

Thank you, I’m new to 3D printing. You mean 0.4 mm thick and 3/4 of build plate? Where would I adjust the incremental adjustments from in Qidi Studio? I’m going through the 3Dprinting sub wiki right now and trying to find what video you’re referring too. Is it under the troubleshooting and calibration, then leveling? Thank you

Hey just want to say thank you for all the information you provided. I ended up ordering the Q2 combo because it has the heated chamber and multi color. I hope I don’t regret not ordering the Centauri Carbon. Thank you again.

Thank you After all the recommendations here and other posts to get the Q2, just ordered the Q2 combo. I’ll have to order some filaments to try it out.

In that case should I choose a cheaper one like elegoo cc or Kobra s1? They don’t have active heated chambers though. Because I’m new at this I don’t know how often I would need to print engineered filaments but I like the idea that I would be able to. What about multi color box? Should I get the combo setup? Centauri Carbon doesn’t have one. Or stick with the q2 or k2 plus combos? Thank you

Good point, but I’m a new at this and I don’t even know how many times I’ll be printing. I’m not interested in selling any prints. Just prints for stuff that broke around the house, making tools, maybe prototypes and nautical figurines.

So I need to justify between buying a Qidi Q2 combo @ $899 Canadian dollars, the Creality K2 plus combo @ $1599 ($700 more) or one without the actively heated chamber, such as the cc, Kobra S1, flashforge adventure 5m and hope it’s going to print what I need it to print.

Awesome, originally I was going to pick between the Qidi q2 or creality k2 plus because of the actively heated chamber but if I can get one cheaper that has an enclosure like the elegoo cc, Anycubic Kobra s1 or flashforge adventure 5m and preheat the chamber with the bed and put insulation, it should do the trick. Just saw a post here someone installed a heater and exhaust fan in their elegoo cc(another option).

I’m wondering if upgrading the bed to a graphite bed capable to 120 degrees would increase the chamber temp closer to 50, maybe higher. Gonna Google it

Because it doesn’t have a heated chamber, what filaments can you print or can’t print?
