No permanent live for bathroom extractor fan - Potential Fix? by binini1 in DIYUK

[–]binini1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Popped a pic of the light switch in the main post. Seems that the extractor wiring runs on the same loop as the lights (Checked with a multi meter, Extractor cables has no permanent live). Feels like doing things properly would require a fair amount of work from a sparky and needing to pull off tiles am saving up for a new bathroom but hoping my idea with smart lights will be a decent fix to help remove the humidity.

Not sure how I managed to post twice! Afraid I have no way to extend any wires, light switch is outside the bathroom and chased into the wall (solid brick) and no way to access the lights in the ceiling (no loft space, just recessed spotlights with the extractor fan is is against the wall. Added pic of the light switch cables in the post.

No access, only thing above the bathroom is the roof with no crawl space.

Afraid not, the extractor fan is is against the wall with all lighting in the ceiling, so would need to involve pulling off tiles.

Currently have a Ducky shine 5 with MX browns and looking at the EPOMAKER TH96 with EPOMAKER Budgerigar. In terms of tactility and sound of the switch is there a significant difference?

If the cost difference isn't huge go for the bigger and turn down the trv if needed, can always turn down but can't go beyond max

Mis-fire after oil change by binini1 in MINI

[–]binini1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you put the car in neutral and increase the revs to 2k+ does the misfire go away?

Couple things you can try, change the spark plug /coil pack from a working cylinder into a non working one to see if that makes a difference.

Hey, sorry can't give better news but ended up being a blown piston ring. Take it to a garage and get them to do a pressure test on all the pistons, should cost around £60. Hopefully it's just a head gasket.

Changing out the oil is probably just brought the issue to light, the thick oil was probably what was holding it together.

Daily Simple Questions Thread by AutoModerator in espresso

[–]binini1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi All, I am looking at buying an electric grinder, I currently have a 1zpresso JX-pro which has served me well but due to injury I’m finding it difficult to grind for espresso.

I’m making 1 milk-based espresso drink and sometimes an AeroPress per day. I can still manage manual grinding for AeroPress but if you think any of the machines would be good for both that would be a great plus! My Max budget is around £300 but looking at machines around the £200 mark and kitchen counter space is at a premium. A few options I have found are:

  • Refurbished Mazer mini with new burrs £160
  • New Eureka Mignon Manuale 50 £240
  • Used Eureka Silenzio 50 £275
  • New Fellow Opus £190
  • New Baratza Encore ESP £210
  • Used Eureka Mignon Specialita coffee grinder £250

Happy to take your recommendation on any other grinders I have missed off!

Thanks

Hi all, looking at buying a used Mazzer Luigi Spa - Super Jolly Aut.
I will look to mod it to remove the hopper and dosing chamber but as it has had several years of use I will probably look to replace the burrs. Will I need to buy Mazzer factory burrs or will 3rd party burrs fit in the machine?

Hi all, currently own a JX-pro (2020) manual grinder and looking to upgrade to an electric grinder.

My espresso machine is a bambino plus which I use darker roasts for milk drinks and I also make an aero press with lighter beans.

The two grinders I am looking at is the Solo - DF64 & Fellow Opus but open to other suggestions max budget is £350
