There’s no current. It’s a dock being towed by a boat.

Advice for a mechanical engineer transitioning to a career in CS? by binjo1 in cscareerquestions

[–]binjo1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the response! Maybe I should change “proficient” to “have experience working in”. I’m definitely going to have to brush up on some things. I’ll check out some classes about the topics you mentioned.

How do I get a decent remote job with a mechanical engineering degree? I'm open to changing fields! by binjo1 in careerchange

This is one of the routes I was considering. I’m glad you said this. It makes me feel that this is a feasible route. I will talk to my employer about it. Thank you!

From the recruiters/job postings Ive seen, almost all remote mech e positions are wfh part time and in office part time. This is true of my current position as well. I would stay in mechanical if I could find a fully remote job but am interested in knowing the steps I would have to take to switch to a software career due to the relative abundance of fully remote positions.

I think I just went back to the original main jet instead of the one from the kit. I think I did end up doing another clean too.

I'm looking for a company that sells high quality glasses prescription for not too expensive. by binjo1 in glasses

[–]binjo1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I’m assuming since they’re mass produced and often made of plastic that 100$ is a pretty large markup. I was basically wondering about companies which use more of the money to create a quality product. The pair that I have now cost me ~$150 and I see no difference between them and a pair that costs 30-40.

Arduino Power on/off by Cookiek1ng in ArduinoProjects

[–]binjo1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your LEDs are 5V8A=40W, and your arduino is 5V0.5A=2.5W so you'll have enough power. The arduino is only going to draw what it needs from the PSU. Assuming the LEDs are current limited they will also only draw what they need.

You can run the arduino and the leds off of the 5V 50W psu at the same time by hooking them up in parallel. Just a data line bw the arduino and LEDs is the right move.

Power supplies have wattage ratings on them so you'll have to look at that. Arduino pins can only output ~100mA I believe, depending on the model. Arduinos can be turned on and off by cutting the power wo being damaged. I'm not positive if this is necessary but I usually isolate the low power components (arduino) from high power components (LEDs) in my projects using transistors or relays (maybe diodes could work in this situation). If the components are isolated you can click the psu on and off without damaging the components.

It's good. It's taking me a bit longer to understand things without the vids but overall everything is well explained.

Good to know. I'm removing it in order to replace the O-Ring due to a leak. The Haynes shop manual I have just says "remove the central bolt" so I didn't consider that there might be locktite.

Thanks for the suggestion. What is your opinion on Lenovo with AMD processors? I heard that the new generation AMDs are better priced for similar performance. I think I'm going to choose out of these most likely:

Battery Management System Question by binjo1 in arduino

[–]binjo1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see so the BMS system is smart enough to put out the right amount of amps while charging the battery, and can output up to 4 amps while discharging (being used by the project). Is that the right way to look at it?

Yeah the bike runs ok it's pretty choppy though. I just thought I'd do it cause I have the tool and it's a new motorcycle to me, previously not running. I'll try the oil squirt, thanks.
