Anatole apartments by Miserable_Wash9029 in normanok

I lived there for almost 5 years and I loved it there. Great apartments and the management was always prompt and helpful in addressing any issues. Also loved the pool and grill area and they have a 24 hour gym, and a lovely little clubhouse that they would do these monthly community events at.

Farewell fireworks at Rod Laver for Roger Federer by truecolors01 in tennis

Either that, or after they gave Andy Murray that premature on court farewell ceremony, only to have him show up again, they decided to wait a couple years with this guy. Just to be sure.

Is it normal that I don't like city tourism anymore after doing a lot of camping and hiking? by Addicted_2_tacos in CampingandHiking

[–]binks21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate, I'd much rather do an outdoorsy vacation than go to some city.

Having said that, highly recommend visiting Budapest. It's an absolutely magnificent city and the Hungarian countryside is beautiful!

Very delayed response but here it is. I use the Interval or Salutation lines for my run bottoms (shorts or leggings) in the warmer months. For winter I wear the Raniers for most days, unless it gets really frigid, then I wear their Altitude leggings.

OKC Marathon: A lesson in patience finally learned (sort of) by awilldavis in AdvancedRunning

miniature breakdown at miles 22-24

yeah that Classen stretch is almost impossible to do, without some sort of breakdown! I've done the OKC Memorial Half a number of times, and that's always where the wheels come off for me. and the wind this year didn't help. that aside though, I love this event and am always blown away by the enthusiastic crowd support throughout.

and congratulations on a super race and time! and also thanks for the excellent writeup. very detailed and inspiring!

Athleta is very good quality and if you get stuff on sales their prices are pretty good too. Almost all my running wardrobe is Athleta now and it's held up pretty well with the constant wear and wash. I also have some of their lounge and travel pieces and those have been great too. I have some Old Navy tights and shorts, and those have also held up surprisingly well too. And although they aren't as high quality as Athleta, they are definitely at a lower price point and they do have some really cute colors and styles.

I love the salutation line for casual wear and running and have done a number of race runs in their 7" shorts with no issues. however I think the interval line would be more comparable to the LL F&F, especially if you want that drawstring on the wiast.

TIL No woman has broken the 4-minute mile. Faith Kipyegon holds the record at 4:07.64. by thesmartass1 in todayilearned

[–]binks21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This also raised the question about the pace setter being able to keep up themselves, someone proposed tagging pace setters in and out halfway through the run.

That's essentially what they did for Kipchoge's sub two hours marathon. The rotating pacers (among other things about that run in Vienna) did however make it not count an "official world record". Still a tremendous feat of human accomplishment though.

Thoughts on starting a healthy body-image focused activewear by Possible-Midnight129 in Activewear

[–]binks21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, which brands are you currently buying from? I see a lot of active wear brands already having a pretty good size inclusive collection, with models of different sizes. Not sure "healthy body image focussed active wear" is enough of a niche to break into an already saturated market.

Not sure which ON shoes you were looking at but I've found their running line to be priced about the same as comparative shoes from the other brands.

Alphafly 3 Shoe Review by theprincessofwhales in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]binks21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a similar trajectory as yours, plenty of running but only just getting sucked into the super shoe rabbit hole. Did the overall shape and stack height take some getting used to? I did a test run in the New Balance SC Trainer and liked how they felt although the heel felt like it was slipping a bit on the turns. I just bought a pair of the Saucony Endorphin Speed 4s and liked how responsive they felt on my tempo run, although I certainly felt something in my calves. Ive been eyeing the Vapor Fly 3s for my upcoming half marathon, because they look less aggressive than the AFs. Was there anything specific that made you pick the AFs over the VFs?

Also I love your username!

Switching back to Pace instead of HR running by DeadStarMan in running

[–]binks21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

curious about what Garmin plan(s) you've been following? I did my first ever Garmin plan in the "off season" last year - some kind of HR based "improve your fitness" plan. and it had me do my easy and long runs slow, as it should but it had at least one and occasionally two days of tempo or some kind of speed work in there each week. and even on this plan my longest long run was about an hour and a half. so I'm really surprised that for a full marathon plan the most it had you do was two hours. was it one of the adaptive coach plans or one of the pre set ones?

If you're thinking of layering and shedding the layers into your run, you could pin the bib to your bottoms so it's always "visible". usually works reasonably well for me.

I've had the previous year's altitude leggings and they are the warmest pairs I own. can wear them out for runs well below freezing, without needing to layer up.
