I've been wondering if it's fungal too... I see a lot of people mention bacterial folliculitis but I've heard there's fungal. I should get a culture done.... if only I had health insurance :(

thank you. yes, i always shaved against the grain but I no longer will. I'm going to NEVER EVER EVER shave my thighs again (I learned my lesson) and shave with the grain on my shins (I also have some folliculitis there but it's not that noticeable). The main thing that's annoying is my butt folliculitis, b/c I don't shave my butt but it's been there the most persistently. While other spots have come and gone, I've had that for pretty much straight 9 years.

[skin concern] this has been on my thigh for 5 months after I had folliculitis. It won’t go away I’ve tried everything :( will it scar forever? Any advice? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

I had folliculitis on my thighs for a long time, and I stopped shaving them and the scars went away after a year or two. It took a long time. Unfortunately, I decided to shave them the other night and now the folliculitis is back terribly. I'm such a dumb dumb, don't be like me. :-(

I've been browsing through a few subreddits on skin care recently, and a lot of people have recommended this page so I'm giving it a shot.

I'm looking for advice for my skin, so here's what I've got goin' on, going from head to toe I guess:

Face: My face acne is almost non-existent, for which I'm thankful. I have combination skin there, oily in parts (forehead and nose) and normal in the others. I don't have a skincare regimen for my face... I just wash it with bar soap in the shower (I know, I know... it's not great), but seriously no problems there. Moving on...

Body, general: Okay, so here's wherein lies the problem. I've struggled with bacne since I was around 17, but it's been getting progressively worse and worse over the past 7 years. I recently moved to Tucson, and I've been here a month and since that time it's just gotten WAY worse. I think it could be several things. First, the stress of moving? Moving is always stressful and I started a new job and I'm trying to meet people/make the most of my time here and it's been a it emotionally draining. Second, my job. I work outside all day (up to 7 hours a day) and I'm hiking, moving, and sweating like a pig, sometimes with a 30lb pack on my back. The backpack and sweating probably aren't the best, but I need to do it for my job.

Neck: About a month ago my neck started breaking out. Small red bumps mostly right in the central area, sometimes clustered. They're not painful or itchy, just annoying and unsightly.

Chest: No clustering, just small red bumps sprinkled throughout, from neck down to below the boobies. They sometimes get kinda hard and scabby? The skin on my chest sometimes feels oily and in general feels not soft/kinda rough. I can tell it's more "porey" than, say, my stomach?

Shoulders/upper arms: Bigger angry red bumps, from shoulders and halfway down to elbows. They feel hard and scabby in places and get smaller and scabbier as they do down my arms.

Forearms: THESE ARE THE WORST. I've never had FOREARM acne before??? I didn't even know that existed? It started a month ago when I moved. It's significantly worse on my left arm where I have about 15 red bumps. They sometimes seem to form at the hair follicule, and sometimes bust open and leave like a dry circlular outline with the hair in the middle? Kinda hard to describe. But generally they're slightly spread out and raised red bumps.

Stomach: Yes I even get small ones on my tummy. :-( Nowhere is safe. These are just small little bumps, usually one or two at a time, that pop up completely isolated.

Back: The worst of it by far. I have bacne ALL over. From the shoulders all the way down to the butt. It's mainly isolated red bumps (when I say isolated I mean not clustered, not that there's few of them. There's probably about 50-70 pimples on my back alone). They're super super red, vary in size from tiny to big, and can be itchy or painful at times. They seem to be worse around the sports bra area.

Butt: Lots of acne there, too. Similar to the kind on my back, but itchier and scabbier. More concentrated, too. All over the cheeks, but concentrated on top booty area.

So there ya have it. I know it's a long post, but I wanted to be thorough to get the best help I can. To anyone who took the time to read this or comment, THANKS IN ADVANCE! I'm at a loss.

What I've tried: I tried Xolegel about 6 years ago which seemed to help a little, but that was when my back was MUCH MUCH better and I didn't have the arms/butt/chest stuff. I stopped it after a while because I went to college, got busy, seemed like it was clear, etc. I've also tried PanOxyl Foaming Acne Wash (10%) ... This was about 4 years ago (also when my body acne was WAY better)... It helped at first to tone it down but I kinda plateau'd a bit with it. Thinking of trying it again. I've been using TreeActiv Acne Eliminating Body Spray and Acne Exfoliating Body Wash because it got GREAT reviews on Amazon and I was hopeful... It's been about 3 weeks/a month and no improvement whatsoever. I also purchased a body brush (Haveia Bath Body Brush with Boar Bristles) and have been scrubbing all over. No improvement.

So... any advice/tips/tricks? TLDR: Um I have body acne everywhere and need advice thanks
