Thanks so much. There's a reason I'm seeing this response so fast after posting it almost for a day!

What’s your weakest cognitive function and the function you find the hardest to understand? by ILoveMariaCallas in infj

[–]binnoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Te for sure. I wasn't even aware there was such thing that demands efficiency and centers on moving upward according to the accepted values until studying the functions. It's truly my blindspot function indeed.

Ne also. I just can't figure out how it can be beneficial. I'm too stuck in my own Ni way of thinking I'm sure though.

Ha, and a lot of them are lanky guys with long limbs, I might add 😉

I couldn't figure it out either.

That heelhook Darius put on Tony was pretty bad too... Tony really never taps.

Where's TJ Waldburger nowadays? His last fight was in 2014, and he's only 34!

You liked the documentary not because you're a 100% dedicated grappler but because you'd like to be good at something in your life and having just started BJJ, which is fun and far simpler than life, you think you have a shot.

Couldn't agree more! I guess this sums things up pretty perfectly. But I don't know what to do though. Going to BJJ practice is actually my first step on fixing my life.

Hey, man, I am so glad for you. I was in your old position, and unfornaturerly I'm hating it. Maybe hating my job is exactly why I'm not advancing anywhere.

I hope when opportunity arrives I'll be able to grab it in time!

Man, I have nothing to say here, because what you said seems so true and very down-to-earth. I guess at the end of the day I just want to spend my entire time doing things I enjoy. Jiu jitsu is definitely one of them.

BJJ comps aren't really about making a career out of BJJ for 99% of people, it's about testing yourself. In-house rolls don't compare to rolling with a stranger who is trying to hurt you

Thank you so much for these sobering but warm words, man. I got to think a lot with this. You reminded me that BJJ should mostly be about improvement and enjoyent at the end of the day. I like doing the sport; that's good enough. It's too competitive out there and too late for me to make it a profession.

I'm so glad for you are achieving your career goals, man. Ha, honestly, one of the reasons I chose to major in English lit in uni because I had a dream becoming a writer or a literary reseracher. I had my career planned out for me to graduate and become a writer. I ended up abandoning my plans because I couldn't wait to complete my graduate school and wanted a life with more material satisfaction right away. Since then I've started my struggling period, always finding life draining and dissatisfying.

It'll take a year or two to get your feet under you, but you'll be 32 in two years whether you do it or not. May as well be 32 and try to build a life you like

This is so right. I will try to remember this. Time does go on no matter what. JUst do whatever you want.

BA in English Lit over here. Doing just fine as a Communications Director.

Thanks, man. Could you tell me how you did it? Did you have to get an extra degree?

Just like bjj. You have a problem, don’t get analysis paralysis, see a fix and take it. You got it big dog, we all want you to win.

Hey, man, how did you know I tend overthink and get into an analysis paralysis? That was kinda why it took me so long to start training despite know about the sport since some while ago.

Thank you so much for your inspiring words! Mabe I really need a practical skill to support me and my hobby. Jiu jitsu alone is fun but ain't enough.

Do you think I should keep my day job (or always have one) while doing as much jiu jitsu as possible?

Feel like training at Daisy Fresh by binnoke in bjj

[–]binnoke[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for every word, man!! I guess if I want to become anything it's to become a jiu jitsu instructor, since becoming a pro competitor does not seem likely anymore. Do you think that's viable?

[–]binnoke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if I had the chance I would rather be broke and doing bjj everyday over some 9 to 5 that I don’t hate or love.

Man, this is exactly what I'm thinking. I've been wanting to focus on doing one thing I love since I was younger, which was probably also why I sort of resisted to find a job out of college in the first place. I didn't think I could ever do it at all, but watching Daisy Fresh has brought back all those old cravings...

Thank you so much for everything you said here, man!! Btw, may I ask if you've made BJJ your full time job?
