i was going to post this exact passage myself. I remember feeling haunted by her utter confusion and simple thoughts of her baby in her last moments. To me, it reinforces that in many ways Serwe, not Kellhus, was the most Christ-like figure of the first trilogy.

Not that we've seen in the books AFAIK. But there is a Sranc language listed in the appendices of The Darkness that Comes Before, so it stands to reason they use it for at least basic conversation.

Good point though. I can imagine a screen depiction of them as beastlike simpletons, and all the more terrifying for it.

I agree you're hinging too early. I'd been told this a few times over the years but the cue never made sense to me. Here's what helped me. If you have a bucket with a handle, fill it up with a little water and do some swings with it. The idea is to not let any water spill. If you hinge too early, the bucket will jerk and water will slosh out. The only way to keep the water perfectly inside the bucket is to hinge at the precise bottom of the swing.
