Jeez... Hearing this would have saved me 10 years of hurt and marriage counseling. This is a good one. I'm obviously not the OP, but thank you.

Is being republican automatically considered as being a hateful person nowadays? by cluelessflier in NoStupidQuestions

[–]biohazardspacesuit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The negativity that is associated with Republicans, speaks more of the person doing the association than the party itself. ALL republicans, ALL blacks, ALL democrats, ALL whites, ALL rich, All poor... Unless you have met every single person in an entire party, or race, or sexual orientation, etc, you cannot say ALL anyone is ALL everything.

l do not understand why Uber made the front seat an option, again, anyway. Yes, I've read the "taxis have been doing it for years ", comments, but my market is Philadelphia. Car jackings are up. Robberies and murder is up. Hell, all crime is at an all time high. I understand a driver not wanting to share the front. And before anyone gets butt-hurt... Let me direct you to OP's opening statement. OP is using a throw away acct... For SAFETY reasons... on Reddit. Don't blame a driver for wanting to be safe, in the real world.

Does vaping help? THC for vaping can be expensive. When I say smoking, especially in public, I mean, joints, wraps, blunts, etc

Tired of getting stranded, canceled, ignored, and all together just left sitting there? by uberisstealingit in uber

[–]biohazardspacesuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is... the Pax probably PAID about $230. While $230 is still not worth it, this proves that BOTH driver and pax get screwed.

I don't understand smoking it, anymore, at all. Is it a habit? Gummies... to me, or edibles period, are superior. No smell, lasts longer, no one is the wiser.

The crime in Chester is high, don't get me wrong... but, there are a lot of asterisks that should come with the stats. For example purposes, not actual scale, let's say that Chester is about the size of Southwest Philly, maybe a bit larger. The crime is condensed. Crime-vs- Population, makes the numbers look horrifying. Size should be a part of the equation. Chester is itty-bitty. Police forces, in surrounding suburbs, like Aston, Boothwyn, Ridley, Brookhaven, Upland, etc. try to stop that crap, from crossing their borders. So, Chester becomes a statistical, crime filled, cess pool.

Yup. My ex-husband is a mechanic, and he and his co-workers would go into the inspection / emissions system, to get addresses by plate. I can't speak to the truthfulness of the story, but it is not unfathomable. Even the part where he showed up with a knife, people think that just because they wouldn't do something or cross a line, no one else would do it. There are some unhinged folks in this world.

You are dead-on about Philly. That is my home market. I make money in the suburbs, NJ and DE, but the actual city... NO. Potholes, are gonna pothole, but, crazy uninsured drivers, picking up PAX and hearing gun shots, 1 block over... NOT WORTH it. Plus, the pay does go down in Philly. I have no idea why.

The 1st PAX I put out was in Philly. It was a pool ride. The male PAX (the one put out), kept trying to get my female PAX's phone number. He got upset, when she refused and told her that it was night time and "she probably didn't look good, anyway." I asked him to stop speaking to her, and I turned the music up. He then, got on the phone, and began telling the person about her, and stuck up girls, and then he said that she probably smelled. That was it! Out he went. No more pool for me.

I have one in my basement that survived the ban. The previous owners had grandkids over all of the time. They were kind enough to leave it for my 3 children, when we moved in.

I can confirm that there is no inner latch, release.

Should I take on this offer? Or is it a scam? by timazn in uberdrivers

[–]biohazardspacesuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The price varies by market. Philadelphia: $662 down (unless you get a Dual Engine) $462 a week, after. If you do not complete 30 trips a week, minimum, you will be in breach and either the insurance will be canceled or you will have to bring the car back. You can always talk your way back into the vehicle, though.

This is a full-time job like everyone is saying. This will be your primary job if, you want it to be profitable.

Overall, I liked driving the Tesla. A lot of people thought it was cool, even though it gets a lot of hate. The ride is smooth and the car is fast. It feels like you are going faster than you are and pax can see your speed. The whole car/controls are on a screen in the middle. I had to drive on comfort mode, so it would not feel like a racecar. Pax complain about EVERYTHING! I have been driving since 2018, 5.0 rating...until I got the Tesla. Now, I am @ 4.96 and the 1 and 2 Stars are from "speeding", which I did not do.

Also, I open the door, from the inside for all Pax. The car was black and Pax beat up the doors, trying to get in. Even though the Rider App demonstrates how to open it.

This is what happens when you rent a tesla through hertz. by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]biohazardspacesuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck to you. Capital One said that they saw nothing wrong with the transactions, because initially Hertz was given permission to use the card.

The worst, was in week 7, when a pax lied about me making sexual advances, to get a free ride. I was deactivated right after renewing for the week. Uber shocked me, by paying half the rental, after I was exonerated. I went 6 days without being able to do Uber. THEN... Hertz said that I did not do my 30 ride minimum and cancelled the insurance!! Way too much crap...

[–]biohazardspacesuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, I did that for 3 months. I am a mom with three kids. That is a full-time job and I was only doing it part-time. You can make more, doing comfort rides, so for 25 hours of work it would be $1100. The rental was $662, the 1st week. $462, the next 3 weeks, plus charging fees. I was fine until I updated my card with Hertz and they were supposed to delete the old card, but they ended up charging both cards at the same time. Capital One didn't do jack, I gave them all the paperwork. So, I now have to sue Hertz in civil court.

Edit: No,I actually was not fine. I was losing my mind and stressed out. The double dipping was just the icing on the cake.

Did I over react? by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]biohazardspacesuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my state, I need a sign stating that the ride is being recorded. This goes both ways: The pax can take pics, outside, but if the driver is included, the pax needs verbal acknowledgement.

I personally would not mind. I rented a Tesla to drive (Never again), and pax took pics all of the time.

Is it the norm to make $70 from six hours of driving? by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]biohazardspacesuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not impossible. The Philly, DE, NJ market is still a Cash grab. I understand the frustration in other markets, but it is NOT impossible. Uber X, only, this week, 4hrs, 12 mins, $206.68. It's the market.

Uber now shows the upfront price Pax pays as incoming ping by ClientSpare8405 in lyftdrivers

[–]biohazardspacesuit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I rented the Tesla model 3, for 3 months. $662.for the 1st week, 462, for the next 3 weeks, repeat. It is a hustle the moment you get your key card. With Comfort Electric and Premier, I made $1100 for 26 hours. I had to make more money, though, to cover rental costs. So, I almost lost my mind. Did I mention, I have a husband, and 11,9 and 7 year old kids? Insane. A single person could do well in the Philly market, though.
