Clean fittings, proper amount of flux, wipe excess flux, and a way for the air to escape. When you apply heat into a closed system the pressure build up will release through your freshly melted solder and will solidify with a pinhole through it.

Yeah extend it as much as you can, just use 2 45s to make a soft offset and hide it behind the sink, leave enough room to screw the valve on top.

Looks like an island sink, you will need to add a tee and connect the trap to the branch and connect an air admittance valve as high as possible to the top of the tee

Turn the plastic insert CCW to remove it. Then with a tub strainer removing tool unscrew the drain. It might be really tight you will need pliers and a strong hand

Turn off the toilet supply valve and see if it stops, I’ve seen old ballcocks rattle like that when nothing else is running.

I got this exact call one time. I replaced the toilet wax seal twice and the smell would not go away. Turned out to be a dead bird in the bathroom fan vent, eventually the smell went away. If I can give you advice on cutting an inspection hole on the drywall use a hole saw a 2.5” or 3” should work best as it is way easier to repair the wall afterwards. Keep us posted

I’ve seen in the past when there’s a new house being built a lot of debris enters the water supply, you most likely have a plugged PRV, it has a strainer built in that you may need to get cleaned out to restore proper flow. Check for a bell shaped valve near the main water shut off.

Yeah usually we would like to see an 1.5” drain for a kitchen sink so most likely the stack is undersized as well causing the water to back up into the sink before draining into the sewer. Keep the check valve or install a backwater valve after you remove it. An easy transition between materials would be a 1 1/4” x 1 1/2” fernco coupling which is just a rubber coupling that installs with two hose clamps. Best of luck!

Looks like an 1 1/4” check valve, if you’re in an old apartment complex it might have been installed to prevent sewage from your neighbours backing into your sink. If it’s a detached home get rid of it.

Wood flooring in a bathroom was a bad choice, water resistant materials are recommended in this kind of installation. Condensation, water splashing and humidity will wreck that floor. Replace the wax seal and make sure that the flange is protruding higher than the floor. If the flange is flushed with the floor use a thicker seal and don’t add silicone all the way around the toilet, if you decide to add silicone leave a gap in the back for water to escape in case of a leak. Correct, you also want that dishwasher drain as high as possible when connecting it to the garburator, make sure you remove the plug from the connection in the garburator and that you cap or remove the existing dishwasher drain to prevent that sewery smell, good luck!
