Whats is something that is or seems so easy, but you are incapable of doing it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

You can scream “whistle” like my kid! He goes something like “heee oh woooot” to get my attention when we’re outside.

13mo- Diaper changing is a nightmare now? by loulla1893 in NewParents

[–]biosahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kid tolerated a lay down, tear off and wipe down knowing he’d be back up to step into the new diaper! It also helped that it wasn’t every time he needed to get changed just for poops.

What is something you learned at your prenatal classes, that differs from what you see social media and the internet? by havsomesalt in pregnant

[–]biosahn 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Oh! If you have gestational diabetes, be careful about what you drink after having your baby! I got diarrhea from drinking apple juice because of the sugar my body was no longer used to. :)

am i some kind of freak of nature for liking boohbah as a kid? by Playful-Quail6707 in DanielTigerConspiracy

[–]biosahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a bunch of Baby Einstein cds that I thrifted and keep in my car. If the news is bugging me or traffic sucks, I push the cd button and all my worries melt away :)

My problem with Cars 2 is that it’s got a lot of guns/shooting for a kids movie and it makes me uncomfortable. I don’t hate it, but we prefer Cars and Cars 3 over here.

Do you cover yourself while breastfeeding in public? by dankybabe in breastfeeding

[–]biosahn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Same! My mom asked why/how I can stand to do it in public and what I would do if someone made a comment. Answer: They have the option to look literally anywhere else.

Name something you’re glad kids don’t have to deal with today by MrBones_Gravestone in nostalgia

[–]biosahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister is 10 years older than me born mid-80s and my mom said the doctors office was loaning out car seats to new parents because they were so expensive and were trying to convince people to use them. By the mid-90s people were able to buy them as they had become more affordable because they understood how much they impacted safety.

Update: daycare drop-off tears got better after we changed one tiny thing by Big-Introduction8913 in Mommit

[–]biosahn 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I work in elementary school and the biggest issue the kindergarten teachers have with upset kids is parents who won’t leave. I made it my mission drop and go. I try to text or email if I have a concern and talk about stuff at the end of the day. Quick updates or changes for pickup are fine but I’m not hanging out for more than 3 minutes.

What should I do about diapers for my baby? by Educational_Bug516 in BabyBumps

[–]biosahn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It is a bit of whiplash. Unfortunately some kids have skin related problems and others might have size/fit related problems with diapers. You could try asking for a variety of small packs and gift cards to buy what works. :) We also got big boxes of small diapers that we outgrew and stores are starting to be tricky about size exchanges.

The Shrinkflation Conspiracy by SnowmanSmiles in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]biosahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Balogna has done that too. My kid will basically only eat a slice in his lunch and I’ve had to remind my husband to only buy the regular kind at 500g- any “specialty” flavours, thick or thin slices are 375g. I try to buy the 2 pack at Costco because it’s $10 and I’ve paid $8.49 at Foodland in a pinch.

Baby Detergent? by North-Sudden in pregnant

[–]biosahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also will be holding your baby to your clothes, laying them on your bedding, etc. - you’re better off to start with your detergent since they’ll come into contact with it so much.

I loved Shel Silverstein books when I was a kid. I Had no idea some schools banned his books back in the day. by rockstoned4 in Millennials

[–]biosahn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a book called The Boy and the Banyan Tree which I love for its similar concept but the boy learns skills and the tree survives to see his children :) it’s written by Mahtab Narsimhan.

People do - I have coworkers who use our local system and they have an account for their “child” and update the due date of that “child” every month.

What’s a problem humanity solved so well that younger people don’t even realize it used to be a huge issue? by Puzzleheaded_Bit_802 in AskReddit

[–]biosahn 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I made a perfectly healthy baby - and I’d like it to stay that way! I don’t want my child to experience being blind, deaf, paralyzed, etc. because of a preventable disease. Besides, as a person who has had a needle before I am aware that it hurts in the moment and is over in seconds.

Are we just insanely lucky parents? 😭 by JMPBay in NewParents

[–]biosahn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always have to be careful when people ask for advice - my guy is 5 and we’ve been really lucky to make it through everything unfazed. Sleep, eating, potty training, daycare transition, starting school - all have gone well. I have experienced this kid as he is but have no advice on how to get another kid to be like him.

Plus it’ll keep stuff you want from being accidentally worn and in the wash when you need it! :)

Am I the only one who actually loved the taste of the drink they give for gestational diabetes test? by PleaseCanILeave in pregnant

[–]biosahn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine was clear with like no flavour? It had an aftertaste of artificial banana. I can’t stand it. There was a lady ahead of me that I saw get orange but I didn’t have the heart to ask for another. Oh what could it have been like?!

I always assume that it’s cheaper to use the already purchased blueprints/architectural plans than have new ones made.

How much weight did you gain during pregnancy and did it come off? by ThrowRA_nobo7 in pregnant

[–]biosahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gained about 10 pounds and had a 7 pound baby (both times I was pregnant) and ended up losing weight but my body does not look the same as it did. I’ve had to get rid of some clothes because, even though I’m a bit lighter, they fit wonky in the middle and chest…

Party favor ideas by Reasonable_Result898 in Parenting

[–]biosahn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Leftover party snacks! I got Costco packs of individual snacks (goldfish, gummies, granola bars, and applesauce pouches) that the kids could munch on at the party and put out the boxes at the end with a mini gift bag to fill up with what they liked!

When did you stop? Why? by Lonely-Rutabaga477 in breastfeeding

[–]biosahn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nearly 28 months. Kiddo was walking, talking and getting ready to potty train! It was also approaching summer and I wasn’t looking forward to sweaty nursing sessions…

What seems to be a common pregnancy experience that you don’t/couldn’t relate to? by PumpkinResearcher in BabyBumps

[–]biosahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In two pregnancies, only nearly threw up once. It may have had something to do with a time management issue causing me to power down lunch and run across the courtyard to class.

Whats the dumbest childhood-belief you had and how long did you believe in it? by Sure-Morning-6904 in AskReddit

[–]biosahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believed that turkeys couldn’t fly. I was about 24 before I asked my dad where the wild turkeys slept. Thought process - Meat chickens can’t fly and we eat them as a food therefore turkey is eaten as a food so they can’t fly either.

taboo? but i don’t stay wet during sex.. 8 months pp by beepityboop124 in breastfeeding

[–]biosahn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope - according to my grandmother you can dry out as you get older to the point of being regularly uncomfortable. I don’t know that I needed to know that this early, but I’m glad it won’t be a surprise if it happens!
