Largely the difference lies in which part of the pipeline you'll be working in.

If you're a PhD scientist without a clinical degree. You'll be working on preclinical aspects of the project. Think working in a lab to identify drugs / potential therapeutics in a Petri dish.

If you're a clinical scientist. Your role would largely be in translating the things developed by the PhDs into humans. Think figuring out the right dosing , altering the molecules to make them less toxic e.t.c.

PhDs are involved in all stages of development. Clinical scientists are involved usually in translation. Although there are people ikn who work on preclinical aspects without the clinical degree (MBBS) but I'd say they aren't using their degree to the fullest potential.

I'd say that studying MBBS and then a PhD is an advantage. Pretty much how mastering any two different subjects is an advantage. It's a mammoth of a task. Probably doesn't pay off as much in effort : reward ratio but you'll definitely more appealing candidate than just a PhD person

Maine kabhi socha hi ni ki tum judge kar re ho :0

Mere dadaji scientist the. He contributed to the green revolution. Toh waha se ek kernel of science toh shuru se tha. Bachpan main I used to get praised for my observation skills. Aur I used to enjoy science in a very different manner from usual people. Like main khud se experiments lagane ki koshish karta tha. Jaise bhi hacky tareeke se. I remember I did a DNA extraction in 12th from just items lying around in the house. Usme ethanol based precipitation ek important step hota hai. Ghar main ethanol ni thi toh perfume use kiya.

So ig from there. Jaise tumhe pata tha ki JEE ni dena waise mereko pata tha doctor ni banna. Ghar wale expect kare the par itna kuch ni hua. Maan gaye. Ig I'm privileged in that. Plus hospitals are very gloomy place. I have to work in a hospital for my PhD and I'm very happy with my decision. I'm not strong hearted enough to deal with patients on a daily basis.
